Description
You see someone who you hate and haven't seen in a long time and they suddenly try to talk to you like you're friends.======================================================================
So as I was messing around in Maya, as I sometimes do to ensure I don't forget things I've learned in the past, I noticed that there was a new material node conveniently hidden and easy to overlook to those who were not vigilant. I was intrigued by this new material and then set to mess around with it and imported Hitomi directly from XPS in a T-pose, didn't even bother posing her as I just wanted to experiment with this new material and I didn't actually expect anything out of it. However, I soon scrapped her. Why? Well, because it's called the 'mila_material' so it only made sense to me that I play with the mila material using...well...Mila. Everything in this render uses the new material and as far as I can tell, I'm more than impressed. SSS is way better and softer , assuming you layer it and not use the build in SSS on the base layer which is basically the same thing as fast_sss. It's the everything-in-one pick-and-choose material. Definitely my default material for everything now.
Beauty Pass took 50 minutes and AO pass took 12. Merged the AO map in Photoshop. Absolutely NO post work done.
Character: Mila
Workflow: XPS -> Maya 2015 -> mental ray -> Photoshop CC
