I actually never understand how they got the FF code in Langley AFB until now!
Because it is so unique, not like MO - MountainHome AFB and EG - Eglin AFB or ED 0 Edward AFB, FF is just... unique.
Thanks for clearing that out, sad to see all the light greys are being replaced.

Even Nellis AFB got the tail WA for most of the aggressor squads (F-15C and F-16C)

Here's another one for you...ZZ for those based out of Kadena AB, Japan. The scuttlbutt on it is that the wing served poorly in the Korean War and was "banned" from being stationed in Continental US and would have the "last" designation. That's what I was told when I served in Korea in 88. I was assigned to a detachment from the 18th TFW that rotated through Osan AB.

Too bad we only will have only the 187 of the F22As instead of the minumum adjusted count of 364 we were supposed to have.

I guess possible F15SEs in the next year or so or the F35 in hopefully 2014, will just have to fill that gap, not to mention the Super Hornet trying to replace the F14D, all kinda sad I guess, lesser cheaper compromises instead of the Bad-Assed Best!

Don't let the F-35's size fool ya. She's fifth generation with a whole lot of capability. I understand the Super Hornet is here to stay for a while, too. The F-35 Lightning II is to replace the F-16, A-10, AV-8 Harrier, and the F-18A/B/C/D. That's a lot of "big shoes" to fill, but we'll see.
