For Mission 3 I wanted to do a comic. I had some ideas which were expanded on (Thank you DarkPrinceHamlet!) for how this would go down and no one art piece could do it justice.

White Obsidian could have entered the fight and simply fought a corrupted gem... but she didn't. White Obsidian is rather ambitious, you see. She doesn't care about many of the rewards of a mission, rather the recognition it gets her. You see, White Obsidian hopes to gain the attention of Dark Diamond herself.

White Obsidian feels Homeworld had gone soft in Era 3. They were no longer the great empire they used to be. The Diamonds had turned their back on everything they had been working twoards. They let countless sacrifices go to waste and took away the purpose of gems meant to serve them. She thinks Dark Diamond is a chance to change that outcome. To reclaim their place among the stars...

To make things go back to how they used to be

Hense, White Obsidian's goal here is to prove herself worthy of Dark Diamond's attention. To prove she is a tool worth keeping around and can be useful to the new authority. To do this, she fights the two giants in the arena. Her goal isn't to shatter or poof, but just to trip them up, maybe swing the outcome of the fight.

I would also like to point out these two are ginourmous... and White Obsidian is only like 5ft 4". So yeah, there was no way she was winning in a fair fight. She has to use her smarts to win.

How she acomplishes this... well there's various traps around the arena. She uses them to her advantage, for example, launching an explosive into the face of Cluster Broken then attacking it's legs to make it fall onto Grey Diamond. Which is what I pictured here. Even then, it's not easy... I imagine she walks away from this fight with a few scratches.

White Obsidian is deadly clever and paired with her abilities to see the weaknesses of gems around her... well, there's a reason she doesn't have any other powers.
