Prologue

I wasn't really used to the campus. It was my first day at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. It was big and so many people seemed so much smarter than me. I wonder how I got in. I tried to hold my books in my hand while struggling to find where I wrote down my lab number. Just then I bumped into a tall figure, dropping my books by accident.

“Oh! I'm so sorry.” I said clumsily. The figure bent down to pick up the remaining books. Just as I reached for it, so did the stranger. I finally met this stranger's eyes. I almost jumped back by the way he looked. My, he was handsome. He was tall and slender but yet muscular. He had fair skin with dark hair and brown eyes, that I couldn't help but lose myself into. He wore a white crew neck t-shirt with artwork of a ninja, along with a green cardigan, brown pants rolled up around his ankles and his mint-colored sneakers. He had style.

“Sorry miss, here's your book.” He said, I blinked once giving a half smile. Then a chuckle.

“Um sorry..thanks. Just trying to find my lab.”

“Do you need help? I mean I could show you.”

“Oh I don't want to be a bother-”

“No, no it's alright. Let me help you out with those.' He took a few books, some bags and I carried two small boxes.

'I'm guessing you're probably new here.”

“Oh yeah. I got my letter a few days ago actually. I guess this is a 'nerd school' isn't it?”

He gave a small laugh. “My brother says that too.”

“So what're you studying?” He asks curiously.

“Oh just nursing or medical. I really want to be a nurse.” He lit up like a Christmas tree.

“I think that's pretty cool. Saving people's lives.”

I gave a small smile, maybe this day could get better. We walked up until we got to my lab. It was a bit big but I guess I could make it feel like home. He set some of the bags on the desk and I put the small box on the chair that was there.

“If you need anything, I'm a few labs away over there.' He pointed.
'maybe I could show you the campus around here, you know, make you feel welcome.”

I put my face down feeling flushed. What a gentleman.

“That'd be great.”

“By the way, my name's Tadashi Hamada.” He bowed.

“Oh, I'm (first name) (last name)." I bowed. He smiled and walked out of my lab but not before coming back in and saying, “Oh and don't worry about anything here. I think you'll do just fine here.”

I smiled big feeling my face get red. “Thanks Tadashi.”

A few months later
Fred would cheer me up sometimes. He was the goofiest guy I'd ever met. He gave me suggestions to build a time machine or a robot that could make him any kind of food. Honey was the cheerful of them all and I loved it. I always took selfies with her just for the fun of it. GoGo was the most amazing person I'd met. she never ran out of gum either. Wasabi was a neat-freak, just like the people I knew back home. But Tadashi, the first friend and crush I had made at the institute. Over the course of a few months I had the guts to actually tell him I liked him. He actually did like me back. I thought it was amazing, have a cute, smart boyfriend and really fun friends.

Thursday

GoGo, Wasabi, Honey, Fred, Aunt Cass, Tadashi, and I all walked to the convention, to see how Hiro would do on getting in. Tadashi told me that it should be good, after alll Hiro was a pretty smart kid. As we got settled, I could see Hiro looking in Tadashi's direction. I gave him a big smile and a thumbs up to make him feel pkay about presenting. Hiro had made microbots, a group of tiny robots that can link together in any way needed. It amazed me, that so many were able to make a tall arrangement and move. As soon as it was over, all of us ran off to meet Hiro and congratulate him. Tadashi smiled the biggest smile, I'd ever seen.

“That was amazing! Professor Callaghan has to give you that letter no doubt.” I said ecstatic.

We see Professor Callaghan appear and he hides something behind him. He presents Hiro with a familiar white envelope like the one I got before. I immediately jump, as he gives it to Hiro.

“Welcome to IoT, Hiro. I'm very proud.”

“Come on go show Aunt Cass. She'll love it.”

As he ran, he yelled happily. The group all took a selfie to remember this moment.

“Come on you.” He said pulling me close to him.

“Let's go celebrate. Plus tonight, I have something very special planned.” I smiled standing on my toes to kiss him, wrapping my arms around his neck. We both pulled away as soon as he told me to go with Aunt Cass while he talked with Hiro. I nodded going back to the group.

I wanted to go talk to Professor Callaghan to thank him for accepting Hiro, when the burning ashy smell of fire came to my attention. He had to be in the building. So I ran and pulled the alarm, the color red of the flames coming close to vision. I heard the panicking of several people and the blaring of the alarms. I ran out feeling the soft burning under my feet. I couldn't find Professor Callaghan anywhere. Maybe he had already made his way out. I could make out Tadashi coming as fast a he could with Hiro trailing behind. I ran to him, and he pulled me towards him protectively.

“Wait! Professor Callaghan could be in there!” Before I could protest Tadashi ran in towards the flames, his cap falling back. I grabbed it and then tried to yell for Tadashi to come back. It was too dangerous. Hiro yelled and grabbed me by the back of my jacket trying to pull me back from the flaming building. Just then the whole entire building exploded. The shockwave sent both me and Hiro flying back and hurled us towards the ground. I moved, trying to stand up quick. A fireman holding me back as I yelled.

“TADASHI! TADASHI!” I gripped his cap tightly, hoping this was a dream. No. Tadashi wasn't dead. Tadashi would come back. My cries soon stopped as I fainted and I heard everyone else call out for both me and Tadashi. It was over.

Tadashi was dead.
