Description
After looking at some images of the original Optimus Primal toy, I noticed he kinda looks like Batman. Hell, even the colors kinda make him look like the classic Batman. And it helps that the toy is generally known as "Bat-Primal".
And what better way to show it off in the style of good ol' TRANSFORMERS: ANIMATED.
Anywho, we've got the line art (lower left); the toy colors (upper left); and, hypothetically speaking, his onscreen colors (upper right).
And a little logo to go with him.

I like to interpret this as what Optimus Prime from G1 would look like if he were in the Beast Era.

In early concept of BW, this was indeed the case; where the G1 Great War continued on to become the Beast Wars and the G1 Autobots and Decepticons took on beast forms.

Wait Bat Primal isn't Primal
The original idea was that this was a continuation of the original series
The Bat was Optimus Prime, and the Croc was The original Megatron.

That's how I interpret the two. The Gorilla and T-Rex are Primal and Beast Megatron, the Bat and Gator are Prime and G1 Megatron.
