Description *Note that this was originally meant for the elastic girl fighting idea*

Now the thing with superpowers is that, since its an element of fantasy, their rules can vary from person to person. So I decided to make soem rules of my own when it comes to elasticity, particularly the female kind. To put it simply, I believe most of the elastic ladies fall within three classes (plus one), going from top to bottom:

Rubber: Those who basically have rubberized bodies. They can elongate with the best of them and since they inherit traits similar to rubber, the should have high durability and incredible snapback (ideal for wrapping and holding. But because their bodies are strong in this regard, they tend to have a hard time shapeshifting since their malleability is not very high. Famous example could be the Elongated Man from DC comics

Plastic: On the opposite side of the spectrum is the Plastic Class. They excel in shapeshifting, as their bodies is more like living plastic than flesh. they can also elongate and squeeze through the tiniest of space. However, because their bodies are so fluid, they tend to be weak in terms of snapback and durability. Also, since they are no longer elasticized flesh but soemthign else, they tend to have melting as a weakness from high tempatires and such. Think Plastic Man from DC comics

Elastic: And in the middle is the jack of all trades. These gals basically have a decent to good hand in elongating, durability, snap, and shapeshifting. Their bodies tend to be highly different but are still somewhat human. These gals don't have any particular weaknesses but don't tend be as good at things the other two are. think Mr. Fantastic from Marvel Comics.

This is just my way of classifying different strengths and weakness from what I have witnessed over my time on DA. Since these are my rules, in which my OCs tend to follow, I would not expect anyone else to feel like they must adhere to these (you made your character after all)

With that being said, I ask those who have an elastic OC: what class does yours fit in?

OCs belong to their respective owners

Scratch that, I think Lora is close to plastic because her insides are gum and rubber, and malleability is one of her best powers.

I don't think my Lora Jett can conform to these classes that well. Gum mixed with rubber is a little hard to classify.

I love this class list.
Natsu is undeniably in the Rubber category.

Glad to know and cool that you like the system ^^

Stacey is the plastic class.

I love these ideas! I feel like EC would be of the rubber-type and plastic-type power, seeing as though she has very good elongation ability/durability/snapback; on the other hand she can also shape-shift/morph due to her malleability, and has weaknesses to heat and cold~

Hmmm. Viva falls in somewhere in the Elastic class, I think. Like Rubber girls, she can stretch really well, and is very durable and OK at snapback. And like Elastic gals, she can take on just about any shape, and be squeezed down into very small spaces. But unlike either of those, she can't do these things by herself; it takes external forces (usually machines) to reshape her. She can return to her normal shape by herself, if she concentrates.

Felicity slots happily into Plastics and Sophie into Rubber.

Easily sorted, better to have this all made simple thanks to this.

Noone has to follow these rules of course. I consider them guidelines on what my characters can and can't do. Makes things a bit more interesting. Glad you like!

Hmmm...I probably have to say for my OC Rayla is elastic.

Leela Marina would be Rubber with some small amount of Plastic aspects.

Kana Naheka is definitely Rubber (though she can do a Super-Elastic power stunt when in Hawaii).

Super Spand-X.... Still working that out... It'll take too long to explain here.

Would the power-stunt you speak of be her elongating throughout the islands? Just making sure.

StretchyGalFan In reply to almond077 [2013-04-26 03:09:17 +0000 UTC]

Elongating the distance between islands, just like her mythical demigod / trickster namesake.

Granted, she's not in the best of shape (pun intended) after doing that (again, just like her namesake).

Alrighty, I just wanted to confirm. Seems rather pointless considering todays travel means, but that power is there in a pinch. Not that I am complaining.

StretchyGalFan In reply to almond077 [2013-12-11 04:21:38 +0000 UTC]

Getting back to this, if I remember my mental notes correctly, her island-hopping elongation stunt would allow her to stretch essentially at super-speed to cover the distance very quickly, but not be able to alter her direction in mid-flight (much like shooting a rubber band).Β  Yes, the overall usefulness of this stunt is rather dubious, but that's Hawaiian mythology for ya.Β

And Linda, despite having no powers -- can clean your clock!

Linda = Batman, or hilarious as it sounds if you've read Empowered she is, hilariously, the "distaff" version of...The G--d--n Maidman!

(Trust me, I know it sounds ridiculous. But what is exactly the opposite of a Batman archetype who dresses in a maid costume?

Yeah, there's American Maid from The Tick, but she mostly just threw shoes.)
