Description
Day 29 of Inktober colored! I'm not going to do too many more of these, although they have been a lot of fun. It's nice not really having to worry about lineart... You just multiply and color.Anyway, this little marshmallow is doing great. She just got abandoned by her owner and doesn't know how to protect herself. Good times.

The atmosphere is so fanatsticaly done, albeit very sad, from the dark colours to the poor l'il pooch. The u-shaped bend in the picture is also a nice touch

The way the scenery slopes upward on both sides makes it look like the world is rising up to swallow her whole. It reminds me of the scene in the Fox and the Hound where Todd is taken back to the woods. Great job on the gloomy atmosphere! All those muddy purples go so well with the greens.

Thank you so much! I actually really appreciate your comment because I feel like I can do more with settings like this, especially find ways to exaggerate the background to better illustrate that imagery you're talking about. I will definitely revisit this type of atmosphere in the future.

You're welcome I think that's a great idea. I'd love to see more expressive backgrounds in your style!

The somber atmosphere of this piece is so well done, and the sheer amount of background/sky compared to the smallness of the character really amplifies the loneliness she is feeling. I hope she'll be okay though *tempted to start RP where a character takes her in*

Thank you! That means a lot, considering I was trying hard to get that lonely feeling.
Hmm, I didn't think about whether she'd be alright or not. But I'm sure she'll be just fine if you'd like her to be

That's the fun part about art like this, the viewer can use their imagination and construct a story from it. Given that the theme of abandonment appears in my stories quite a bit, it struck a chord with me.

I see. When I used to write I used to focus on similar themes, particularly isolation and betrayal. You can see a tiny hint of it in the Chat comic.

I did notice that in your comic. It certainly makes for great dramatic moments, especially when the one doing the betraying/isolating is family, or a very close friend. I think it's a sort of pain everyone can relate to in some way. The abandonment in my pieces can be intentional/malicious, or unintentional, and usually involve a small, or young, and helpless child. And since they always involve animals, it tends to be a prey-type creature, and the one who typically helps them is a much bigger predator-type animal that could've easily eaten them instead. For me, it shows a good picture of mercy and kindness, and that compassion can come from those whom you may not expect it to.
