SPAGOOTER! I can't stop saying that ever since that certain Brutaloo tumblr update.Something a little different this time, quite pleased with most of the stuff in this!
Criticize to help me feel good and bad at the same time! ...if you want to.

That sure is an interesting hair style you have there! It looks like ribbons. This picture is pretty interesting, I'll give you that.
Lets see... The first thing that comes to mind is the lovely shading. You've got some good form on the body. I really like the hard shadows cast by her mane, it all looks pretty well done. The snout area is a little flat though.
Her horn looks a little small, and the glow looks like it's offset to the right a bit. Also I'm not really sure what kind of magic she's trying to cast. It looks like she's trying to fuss with her hair or something. Quite adorable. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="
Speaking of hair it looks like that purple strand should be going in front of the tail there.
You've painted in some ambient light in places that the primary light source isn't hitting. It looks good, but I think some type of background or environment would match it a little better, even if it was just abstract colors. The shadows would be pure black if she were standing in a black abyss.
Compositionally your subject has all the attention since there's literally nothing else to look at. Her gaze is drawing attention to the hair, which I suppose would be the main focal point. There's room for improvement, but it seems to be working out fine in this case.
Overall its a very interesting piece. It's always nice to see something out of the ordinary. ^^

as I've only had one critique before this (which I didn't think was so fair considering the 5 stars everywhere and endless praise) I really wanted to reply to this.
After reading this and seeing the ratings I think this critique is veeery fair. You have some really valid points (even if I still think there's too much praise for someone like me!) like the backgroundl and the light and all.
This drawing was originally supposed to just be a sketch, and then a drawing with background and all, but I unfortunately just gave up on the background which made the light and background to be completely off.
About the composition... well, this didn't quite turn out as I wanted it to. I could just say that my original idea was the the mane would supposed to be unorganised which would make Twilight mad and try to fix it with magic. But my original idea was that she'd just look badass and look up at something with a windy mane.
Either way, thank you for taking your time to critique.

aside from the ear thing which you probably already know about the only thing is really a personal nitpick which is tht the tail isnt tht puffy if you get what i mean otherwise good job
