Description
nothing really fascinating here. just a uranian planet or uranus-like planet in another system being viewed along with a few of its moons that are located in or around the rings. the moons maintain or shepard them by keeping the shape of the rings constant, similar to some of saturns moons. hence the term, sheparding moons
and i know, the lens flare kinda blocks out the moons, another reason why you should DOWNLOAD THE IMAGE before commenting!
anyways, i doubt anyone would actually like this, because like i said, it really isn't that great, compared to my more recent pieces.
comment if you can!

And the greatest beauty can be found in the simplest of things! If one only looks.

yes! i know!
i always look at some of the most simple things in nature and say that their some of the most beautiful things in the world!
i know how you feel!

The shapes, the layout and the contrast...all excellent. Very geometric and centered, where as the lenseflare (scientifically a flaw in the glass) is not perfectly aligned. (an intentional "flaw" in the layout) Even the moons are symmetrical overall. Nice!
The only thing detracting IMHO, is the light angle would show more of a crescent with the planet mostly in shadow, maybe. (But it's probably just me).
Excellent overall!

yeah, i know, the lensflare isn't perfectly levelled. the image would had looked more neat and simple if it was. but, i'm glad you like it!

Great job on the rings. I may have to do a Uranus type world as the background for my next project :-D
The only thing I would suggest doing is blurring the planet's edge just a little. The detail on your planet is actually more detailed than the real life Uranus (a featureless turqoise sphere).

thanks! and i was going for detailed gas giant, but i don't know how to create them from above!
do you know of any tutorials that can help me make them?!
please!

Here is a good gas giant texture. Not from above but it can help: [link]
For using polar coordinates, you will want to paint the planet's pole at the bottom of the texture and gradually increase the swirls toward the top, since the top of the texture will become the equator.

I was trying to do the same thing just today, inspired by this one One way of doing it from above is to create the texture and use Polar Coordinates.
The snag I ran into is that the texture absolutely has to be tile-able, or you will see the boundary where one side ends and the other begins; hard to do with traditional gas giant swirls. This is not much of an issue if the art is going to be from the planet's dark side (where you can hide it with a darkening gradient) but if you are doing it from the day side, then you want it seamless. The texture is also best done at a 1 to 1 aspect ratio (that is 4094 x 4096 and so on).
For blurring the edges, I simply duplicate the planet, place the duplicate below and then Gaussian Blur at no more than 5. Drop Shadow works well for creating an atmospheric haze.

yeah, i know! i use motion blur and then polar co'ordinates and it created a boundary where the two sides meet! so i'm currently working on getting passed that!

Not bad ... Another soft planet though. I like the ring

i'm glad you like it! and the only reason the planet is soft is that i don't know how to create gas giants from above! is it possible that you know of any tutorials that can help me make them, please!

Well, to make planets not soft, you should duplicate the planet texture and put it over the shadow then turn its mode into soft light

Awesome fantasy art. At first I thought this was a camera lens. Very abstract. I love it.

and i guess simplicity beats complexity in making this piece look real?!
but what do you mean by abstract?!
