SO TRUE.
I didn't think saiyans even had to shave, considering their hair never grows longer than what they usually have.

Well both king Vegeta and Nappa had facial hair so Saiyans can grow facial hair.

Oh yeah. DERP. I completely forgot about those two..
I guess I was thinking about Vegeta/Goku in the time chamber, how they'd come out unchanged. Do you think it takes them longer than a year to grow facial hair? Or do they just carry indestructable shavers in their pockets? lol
(I haven't watched GT yet, so I don't know how long Vegeta took with his.)

They don't. The people who made GT obviously didn't consolte Toryama for the mustache, nor did they watch that episode. -_-

Actually, Toriyama did all the character designs for GT, including Vegeta's 'stache. Yes, this was done on purpose by DB's creator XD

Additionally, yeah, Vegeta said saiyan hair never grows, he was simply referring to hair on the head. He never said anything about facial hair. Hell, Nappa and King Vegeta had facial hair, why would Vegeta's be inconsistent?

Nyaa... This is all so ridiculous...

Nevertheless, Vegeta's 'stache HAD to go.
And his hair needs to grow back somehow.

Indeed. I think Vegeta's 'stache was just a joke. As we all know about Toriyama, he's got a sense of random humor about him.

As for his hair, eh, it was alright in the later portion of the series, when he was spiked again, and not some awkwardly angled crew cut Though, I wonder why he would resort to shortening it in the first place :/

Maybe since saiyan keep they're youth longer, he wanted to show that he HAD "grown" (since Vegeta's so short and all) and couldn't think of something else. :/
I don't know... Yeah I guess it was just randomized humor. Hey, at least he cut the 'stache XD

I'm not sure what you mean by him wanting to show that he had grown....

ReeLay In reply to Gyarretto7 [2012-07-12 05:46:36 +0000 UTC]

Toriyama might have wanted to show that Vegeta had aged. Like Krillin, grayed hair, 'stache, 18 short hair... Videl aged look... So and so forth.
But how to show that Vegeta had aged? He was the last saiyan left (next to Goku, but he had turned into his child form...) and thus the hardest to age.
And so... He cut the beautiful hair...

Gyarretto7 In reply to ReeLay [2012-07-12 05:57:41 +0000 UTC]

That makes sense. Though, I would have thought that his all urban attire would have demonstrated that nicely enough, as well as his somewhat more aged facial appearance, but it would stand to reason that his shortened hair would have better shown his age.

But Goku definitely looked a fair bit older (in the start of ep1, of course ) in the short time he was an adult than he did in dbz, and he didn't really look all that different.

XD I suppose that's true for the Goku thing. Fair enough.

Yes but his clothing changes throughout the story as well, it was pretty obvious that he would end up in "regular" clothing. That might be why Toriyama felt as though he needed to add something, because since Vegeta's cloths changed all the time, people might over look it.
And people definitly did NOT ignore the hair.

well said ^^ Yeah, his hair change definitely did do the job in giving him a much more matured appearance. Though, some people are idiots, and have no idea why he switched from saiyan clothing in the Buu saga to normal earth clothes in GT, but then again, the dbz prologue chapters/episodes (in which Vegeta wore all earth clothes, save saiyan boots and gloves) are a very neglected little section of db lore XP
