Description Colossal razorleg

Height: 4-5 feet
Weight: 500 ibs
Habitat: tropical woodlands
Native region: Pacifica
Evolved from: sulcata tortoise
Lifespan: 80-110 years

- Pacifica is a large pacific island that was originally Hawaii. Due to extensive volcanic activity, the multiple islands expanded to the point where they form into a singular island in the course of 55 million years. The island was occupied by herbivorous mammals that were introduced to Hawaii by humans, but they ended up dying out after the age of man. So with no serious competition to deal with and with many resources available, a type of invasive tortoise that were brought to Hawaii during the age of man as pets were able to get a foothold of the islands. Enter the colossal razorleg. The island giant.
- colossal razorlegs are descended from sulcata tortoises that were brought to Hawaii as pets. When humans and domestic mammalian herbivores went extinct, the tortoises no longer had too much competition and had plenty of resources to exploit. Primarily feeding on scrubs, leaves, flowers, and fruit. They're body plan is similar to today's tortoises except for their long legs with huge spike like scutes on them.
- These reptiles have gone through a phenomenon known as island gigantism. In which some island species are larger than their mainland relatives. For these reptiles; they're so huge due to lack of competition, abundance of food, and as a defense against predators such as birds and Hawaiian cats. Their legs are coated in thick sharp osteoderms that protects the colossal razorleg's legs ( hence the name )
