Reminds me of scenes from when Hurricane Charley hit Florida in 2004. It slammed into Port Charlotte and moved directly into us in Arcadia.. (Another small town) which was further inland.. I was outside during that storm for a short while.

We went like 13 days with no power.. I know a Hurricane is larger but doesn't do as much damage as a tornado does.. We went driving around, I sat in the back of the truck when we went to one of our old houses.. there was a powerline down in the road and I was facing the other direction, turned around in time to see it and duck under it.. Nature sure has some awesome power.. It took down the Hurricane Shelter.. Can you imagine when people had to leave the shelter at the peak of the storm to move hand in hand across the street to the High School?

Could have been a number of things.. No spotters reported it in, the center didn't sound the alarms cause they didn't believe the signs or the storms moved quicker than expected. For us, we had warning but it shifted directions at the last minute.. a LOT of people were caught off guard.. After that one, I wasn't afraid of Hurricanes, I'd be outside waiting for them and watch the skies.. WHICH wasn't smart especially since Florida is the Lightning capital of the world.
