Well, yes I did! This is probable the most time that I've spent on an image in Photoshop. This was shot for a book cover and we'd chosen the location to suit the original plan for the image, which was to be of the model, representing the heroine, standing with a noose round her neck on a trapdoor, but it didn't work, so we ended up with one of the initial test shots instead! The shot was taken in February and as it was bitterly cold the model needed some heat. But the only heat available was one of those bright red light heaters. Unfortunately this cast a shadow and made everything red. So I had to sort those issues, give the model a boob job (as her real one wasn't obvious!), brighten her face, add the window bars ,and then after a gallows and a crowd scene through the window were tried and ruled out I had to go and find a sky to shoot specially!
All in all it was around three hours shooting and five hours in Photoshop!

It was worth it. Beautiful, haunting shot - and interesting to follow the changes you made

Wow - excellent work! Did you sharpen up the image using a general "sharpen" or did you do it in some other fashion?

I tend to use Nik Sharpener Pro, or an equivalent work around for web image and printing, that I'll explain if you're interested. But basically, on a 600x400 pixel image, it's the same as using Photoshop's Unsharp Mask with the settings: Amount 150, Radius (typically 0.3) but in this case 0.4, Threshold 0.

You obviously did more than sharpen the picture, though?
