This should answer this epic question:
The truth is that I only have 2 OCs: Altair and Terazed. I created them in the late '80s and they're the ancestors of any other character that came after them.
And every once in a while, they change into something else but just aesthetically.
Altair is always Altair, Terazed's name changed once into Hummer when I decided to feed my original OCs to the medabot fandom, and gave Altair a medabot companion instead of a utahraptor.
Actually, in my comic, when Altair woke up as a medabot, one scene that I cut was actually a small crossover where she freaked out because, as a medabot, thus immortal, she would never be able to come back to her true god form, implying that living the life of a mere human was a punisment from the gods. The Eagle god, which always has a great sense of humor, would have told her "yeah you wanted immortality, right?"
But I decided to leave my true original character's story out of the medabot fandom. And it was better that way.
Minchio was my cat, but he's the next candidate to be put in place of Terazed so he's there too.

Interesting. Me, I came up with my original/primary OC, eventually named Daniel "Gator" Castigator, back when I was 17. Started as "me if this, this, this & this happened", but quickly evolved into a completely separate entity, "Gator" preventing confusion. "Born" bit more than normal human power wise, however over time he's grown more powerful, learned to travel between realities, fused with "himself" (another fragment of the shattered soul he too is a piece of) gaining a 2nd DNA strain + a 2nd & 3rd form, became the latest to bear the title "Imperator Rex" AKA "The Fourth" and quietly watches over a version of himself that never had to endure the same week of literal pain he did...
I do have more OCs, but he's never left...

that's actually a very interesting concept! I love when artists keep their older ocs and develop them over years. They always end up being great characters with great backstories.

Oh, he's definitely got some backstory to him. If fact he's grown that powerful over time he's literally turned into a Demi-God-Mod. Full God-Mod if he lets himself go Final Form (subconsciously blocks that form tho, scared of it's power). I've also got several OCs who are actually a result of Castigator using his "Energy Clone" technique, creating essentially clones of himself mentally linked to him but SIGNIFICANTLY less powerful, to perform little tasks as part of his job to maintain balance throughout the realities.
Do also have a good few OCs NOT related to Castigator, he's just my original & most adaptable...

Well, that's an interesting evolution of characters.
I have one character, and through these years, I made other 3 characters based on his previous version personality. Basically, I split him up.
And he was going to be a Kingdom Hearts related character. XD

For me it's very interesting to see how you actually have two core identities, Altair and Terazed, but expressed in all these different, beautiful forms, whichever fits your needs for storytelling, interest, it's really cool! One thing that should always be is the relationship with Altair and Terazed. And for extra drama, could alter between being friendly/allies and antagonistic.

Np. Altair and terazed are always a couple. If I made them antagonistic they wouldn't be the same characters anymore so it makes more sense to make a new one

Ok. I thought of something along the lines of two people initially starting on opposite sides of a conflict... but now that I think about it, it's kinda cliche.

I use the same name for a couple of characters. Cyrus for example
One is descended from Britannian druids, a fugitive summoner with a contract to a weasel spirit of rebellion and annoying/pissing people the fuck off.
One is a cyborg from a science fiction story, once a genetically altered failure for a super soldier program.

These are all super cool (particularly the anatomic details) but my fave is still the metabots comic. The writing just grabs ya.
