from my fave books: Dragonspell and DragonQuestthis is just what i think a minor dragon would look like, from what i read in the book and what i've seen other people draw.
Minor Dragons are small dragons (about the size of a kitten) who have different abilities depending on there color.
(in order of age)
GYMN is the green dragon and his ability is to heal
METTA is the purple dragon and her ability is to sing (makes u calm and relaxed)
DIBL is the yellow dragon and his ability is to laugh (makes u happy)
ARDEO is the grey dragon and his ability is to glow.

all the ones i've seen so far are just different color dragons. few people pay attention to the personality of each dragon.

Gymn has always been my favorite, but how about doing the rest of the minor dragons? I just finished reading the final book, Dragonlight, and though by that time they are too numerous to count, you can still do Pat and Filia who appear in Dragonknight

oh, and so you know if you have not read Dragonknight yet, Pat is Brown and he analyzes and fixes things, Filia is Pale pink and gathers knowledge
