It's a very sweet concept, and I often see it depicted here at deviantArt. Usually, the thread seems to come from the heart rather than being tied around the ankles, but I kept to the myth here. It even works with the idea of the picture better. You're more likely to trip over something around your ankles than streaming from your chest.

Anyway, this is the picture that epitomizes this couple, for me. If you remember how I portray them - your only evidence, unfortunately, being an old fanfic that desperately needs finishing - I'm sure you will note the symbolism. Here we have affection that is, for a very long time, completely one-sided, and embarrassed and awkward and uncertain.

So you see, here O'Chunks is messing up romantic conventions again and proving his utter incompetence at being the sweet charming gentleman that Nastasia always wanted. While she doesn't even realize the thread is there, he is always tripping and getting himself tangled up in it.
