Loooks wicked man, are they metaballs u used for that mercury look? Definetely very T2esque indeed.

The checkerboard texture really needs to go though, i believe the only good thing it is for is:
1. Texturing a checkerboard.
2. Giving other objects something to reflect/refract...but usually for tests.
I tihnk with a more dirtier texture it would look a lot better, and give the piece some more unity. Also what Cranial said, about the drops, but that is always annoying to tweak...

Besides that it really owns, the modelling of the face and the composition with the hands is great. Impressive work Alter.

The whole scene, and specifically the liquid metal rocks. I think it could look even more liquiddy and mettally if the blops weren't quite so tall, and more spread out and interconnected so they look more like squashed hippos that spherical drops.

nothing wrong with chekered floors imo..they've been around since Vermeer. haven't seen the mercury done like that before.. nice. i'm guessing you did all of this in maya, except for the grungy stuff,which is the only thing i don't like so much here.

This is a damn nice piece, I tried something like this once, I couldn't pull it off.
