Ian's the only reason I watch it too. Read the books when they first came out. They're some of my favorites. The show blows. It's sad a crappy show gets good ratings because they were smart enough to cast one character well with a very attractive man. lol

I wonder sometimes if I'd like the show more if I'd seen it before I read the books. A lot of people saw the show then ran out to get the books. They'd already formed their opinion on it based on the show itself. But, I've had those books since my early-20s and read them so many times and adored them more each time, so I was all set to hate the show from the beginning. lol

The diffrence is that most people compare the books to the show and you compare the show to the books. And we often like what we saw/read first.

That's true. I know I do it the same as everyone else, but I'm always willing to give something a try because you never know. There are a ton of movies that I read the book for first that I adore. And there are a few movies that I saw, then read the books and still liked them. If they don't follow the books I'm ok as long as it's well done. In my opinion, TVD wasn't. The basic premise isn't even there anymore. They completely dropped the diary entries (Which were very important in the books, and the basis of the title for pete's sake!) after only the first episode. That's a little stupid if you ask me. lol Or, maybe I'm just too grumpy and set in my ways about the books. :b (And offended that they removed one of my favorite characters and screwed the cat-fighting dynamic that amused the hell out of me between Caroline and Elena. lol)

Speaking of the title, I agree. I think it's stupid, the show calling "The Vampire diaries" if there aren't any of them (diaries). But I understand there is no place to them in the show. It's a great thing in the books and the notes show character's feelings but in the show there are scenes, not words. They should have changed the title then but they haven't.
