Description Wow! Look at this amazing battle in action. This was a request made by Ruz18 ruz18.deviantart.com/ . This is the first pic of Daniel in actual boxing action, specifically against his OC Riley.

Here Riley is turning up her offense and lunging in low at Dan with a deep straight to the gut which, to Riley's frustration, catches nothing but air as Daniel's evasiveness shines through - possibly giving him a window to counter with a big left hook it seems. The outcome of this? Well I guess we won't know since it's a private match

Daniel: You were truly a formidable opponent Riley, I look forward to sparring with you again ^_^

Thank you very much for this Ruz18, it's fantastic.

Daniel certainly did choose quite the fireball to spar with in Riley. Β I'm sure she gave more than her fair share of trouble to the wandering son in between any punishment he sent back. Β It's a great action scene he did for you!

Thanks Kira! Indeed Ruz18 did a wonderful job here. Yes Daniel prefers to test himself against strong opponents like Riley, he would be a bit disappointed if she DIDN'T give him a good amount of 'trouble'.

Daniel: Riley fought me with amazing spirit and ferocity, it was one of my most enjoyable matches in a very long time

Thanks, actually most of Dan's matches are private sparring invitations (like this) or matches with low attendance because he's not a professional boxer. He's only at the amateur level, but he spars with pros on occasion.

Daniel: Hmm, if I recall correctly I narrowly defeated Riley by TKO that day. She asked for a rematch, which I am also looking forward too^^

I agree those would all be great matches and I would be honored to attend them^^

Thanks, he also helps to expand the horizons of his opponents more often than not

Daniel: Thank you Azayaka, that is more-or-less my goal: finding new talented opponents I can learn from. In fact I believe I have a match coming up with your prodigious Isabelle Beaumont that will teach me quite a bit^^

Given his visage, I'd say Daniel is about to unleash hell. XD

alveus In reply to SubtleRoar [2015-04-02 18:05:24 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Griff. Heheh, actually its pretty rare for Daniel to truly 'unleash hell' given his defensive tendency. But yes his opponents will testify that he definitely doesn't let opportunities for counter-combos slide often and judging by his look, he's found one such opportunity with Riley and plans to exploit it

Daniel *thinking*: That's a strong blow Riley, but you went for it a bit too early. Hmm, should be able get about 3 strong ones in safely now. Maybe a few more if she gets dazed...

SubtleRoar In reply to alveus [2015-04-02 18:28:53 +0000 UTC]

Precisely; if he's as adept in combat as his training purports him to be, I'd expect his opponent to buckle within the next few seconds of his onslaught. For someone who proclaims to be guided by peace and serenity, he knows an extraordinary amount about the pugilistic arts.Β

alveus In reply to SubtleRoar [2015-04-03 17:41:13 +0000 UTC]

Yes that is a very possible outcome, but on the other hand even when an opponent does fall to him early they often make it back up to face him again because 1. Daniel never takes additional shots after it looks like someone is about to fall, in fact he doesn't even move back much usually giving them an opportunity to clinch and 2. He very rarely throws full-tilt haymakers in his combos so he can instead limit counter-attacks sneaking back his way. This is a big part of why Dan's never KO'd anyone before Round 5: its one area he's gotta work on a bit if he wants to step it up, yet it also makes him a superb sparring partner.

Heh, only a monk could explain how peace and padded pugilism are related. To elaborate Daniel prefers boxing over other striking arts precisely because it is a bit more 'peaceful' and 'enlightening' to him: the chance of severe injuries (at least at his amateur level) is fairly low and the battle is also 'drawn out' by the gloves reducing the damage of blows. To sum up, Daniel thinks boxing is more conducive to releasing negative feelings in a safe way and allows both contenders to bond over the course of a long match.Β

Looks like Daniel's doing pretty good at this point.

Yeah, Riley can still turn it around, but at this point she might be making a mistake that many of Daniels opponents have also made: getting frustrated at his defense and trying for bigger hits. You gotta stay cool if your going to wear the 'clever fox' down and claim victory^^

"Wisely and slow. They stumble, those who hasten."

Β I'll have to bear that in mind when the time comes to knock gloves with Daniel..
