CHIU-STREAM was kind enough to have me on the show for an in-depth interview last week and in case you missed it the sketch challenge for all the viewers was to, “Create your own Fighting Game Character”! [link] This was a welcome challenge for me as I have many ideas for characters for my own vision of the SF Universe!One of these is Mr. Boogaloo from the NYC Brooklyn Breakers; he’s the young phenom of a legendary breaking crew from the streets of Brooklyn and possesses the illest up-rocking skills anyone has ever seen. His many styles, which include tutting, footwork, spins and freezes are so elusive that some call his fighting style reminiscent of a urban, “Drunken Kung-fu”. Already a street and Youtube legend, he’s ready to take his unique set of skills to a larger stage. This character also happens to be inspired by some of my favorite dancers, including Mr.Wave, Wigglez, Elsewhere, KB from the JABBAWOCKEEZ and shouts to my fellow artist Lando “Bang Jenkins” Wilkins from the BOXCUTTUHZ! yes he is a very nice dancer, i don't know the range of his abilities, if he can dance gracefully as a ballerina or if he can also dance steps.

Boogaloo, popping, and tutting from the description are just styles of dance, just like ballet or the separate ballroom dances.

I like the attitude here. It definitely has that Street Fighter style, but carries itself like DefJam Vendetta (specifically the eternally epic Fight for New York). A real smooth match-up.
The pose is great, that "fighting DJ" stance never gets old. I like how the design is both familiar and unique; you know you're dealing with a dude from the streets, but the prostetics and the face paint really stand out. I have a real penchant for wacky characters.

awesome how u described it , you are not a breaker by any chance are you. For some reason it wouldn't surprise if you did some breaking in your spare time.
but yeah concept is dope , his idle animations i bet would be sick as hell especially with his taunts and winning animations. Totally wanna design my own popping , or locking type character!

word , its like a common thing now , i know a bunch of dope artist who dabble a little bit in breaking , I dance as well, concept artist by day , wannabe dancer by night lol. I am glad u are bringing a hip hop flavor to character design world , u dont see it too often (especially executed well).

I think its the gloves, the Micky Mouse style gloves. Or is it the fact that he is some sort of wonderful mechanical man.
