Here's a sneak peak at the "new" style I've been working on. This is currently being colored by my good friend and ultra talented painter, Doe.Tried to keep my faces looking like my usual style with a bit of a twist. Hair and facial features were more rendered, blacks are done with heavy hatching, pencils were completely eliminated by going straight to ink with *gasp* a ball point pen! Hopefully the end result is something a little more raw, with a little more energy and realism!

I'm suprised you draw in ball point pen!I like drawing in ball point pen too its more frowned upon.I remember when I was in school taking a figure drawing class my instructor wanted me to use pencil instead.Ball point pen is a smoother stroke you just have to remember to draw real light intell fine the stroke you want, then you just darken it up a little bit.

Out of all of these Iron man sticks out the most to me. Ball point pin and the lines are so clean. That's nuts man. Seriously.

I've seen your style evolve ever since the good ol' Udon days, the days where you became my first western influence in drawing (ever since I became obsessed with anime). It's funny that I have been going through similar changes; ever since you started in Marvel, I haven't been able to follow your work, but now that I see this, it is ironic that I'm going through the same process of reevaluating and improving on characters. I see that little by little, you've opted for a less "animeish" style, while still retaining your core. I dig your new, more expressive and detailed faces. I'd try to exaggerate some of the facial expressions to push it a little bit further (maybe with the lips).
There is one thing I miss, though: the way you drew hands in Darkstalkers and SF2. Especially with the fingers, knuckles, and joints! How did you do it? I was never able to emulate it when I was studying your style...
BTW, Thor is my personal favorite!!! I'd like to see you doing a run with him!!!!!

this is such a nice piece, the amount of detail is incredible, and doing this straight with ball point pen is very gutsy, the end result is nothing short of amazing!! I hope you post the colored one soon

didnt realize that you used pen for this, it looks like pencil, a very well rendered pencil that is. i guess you succeeded in making it raw, with a little more energy and realism

I love ballpoint pens for that ability to fade (go softer)... definitely gives more texture (and it does appear as pencils!)
