Ok, I haven't drawn anthro stuff in FOREVER!!! However, after playing the amazing Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, I felt the need to! I immediately fell in love with Tennessee Kid Cooper and Rioichi Cooper when I played the game, so I wanted to draw my OC with one of them, and since Tennessee seems like he'd be better with cute romantic stuff, I chose him
My OC is named Riley and she is a mongoose. I made this OC way back when, but she was originally a rabbit instead. I chose to change her to a mongoose cuz I like long tails XDDD
I don't have much info on Riley...I'll admit it.
The old story-
She worked for Carmelita as a spy for Interpol within the Cooper Gang. She carried around a trigger/remote at all times. Her ability was mega jump (she was a rabbit back then, so it made a lot of sense). I forgot most of the old story....
The new story-
She was paid by interpol to stalk the Cooper Gang and stop their plans, but as she followed them, she found herself taking lots of recon photos not only of the gang, but also the Thievius Raccoonus. She obsesses over reading the book as she surveys them. She takes photos of the pages and tries to learn the techniques they teach (but only the ones that don't involve the use of a cane).
[Thieves in Time]-Riley sneaks onto the team van as they go back in time and continues to stalk them wearing a black hooded coat. Eventually, when they go to feudal Japan, Rioichi makes it noticed by the others that someone is following them. The gang starts keeping an eye on her, calling her "The Shadow" because of her long, black, draping coat. The Cooper Gang thinks of her as a threat (they also don't know she's female) and tries to continue on their mission to save the Thievius Raccoonus. In the Old West, Sly, Bently, and Murray got captured and Tennessee and Carmelita go to free them (mission 'Jailbreak') and Tennessee and Carmelita get captured as well. Riley goes in the free them herself, finally revealing her identity to them (Carmelita doesn't know her because they worked in separate units). She explains that she wants to help restore the Thievius Raccoonus (since she is enthralled with the book), and they agree to let her stick around.
Her abilities are howl (very high frequency that leaves enemies uncoordinated) and mega jump (stick to the classics!)

Looks really cool. One question though; Why does her tail have scars? Like, it seems a very unlikely place (ALL THAT FLUFFY) for scars to be visible. Y'know what I mean?

I wanted the stripes to be the same color as her hair, so I made them white you're not being a goober! XD I love feedback!

Well, first thing that struck me awkward was that she somehow was able to track the Cooper Gang, without being spotted, and managed to get pictures of The Thievius Racoonus, and learns (or tries to learn) the techniques. It doesn't seem very realistic to me.
Maybe give a little more info as to how she's able to learn these things so well and why Interpol hired her to spy on the Cooper Gang when, in-game, it's established that the Interpol Officers were convinced that the Cooper Gang was disbanded in the third game and had no other reason to believe otherwise.
And she somehow got into the van when they time-warped? Wha?? I think they would've noticed another person... So, her involvement with the plot is shaky.
From what I can surmise, she's a relatively new character and hasn't got all the kinks worked out yet. Design is good. The involvement in the plot is not so good. A lot of factors play into a character.

You pointed out a lot of stuff that I planned to fix actually. I know I need to fix up the way she gets back in time with them. I thought about including her with Penelope or Le Paradox, but I'm working that out.
Getting photos of the Thievius Raccoonus was another issue, not sure how to fix that one, but I'm working on it.
I'm glad you brought up the thing with Interpol hiring her. I tried to think like she starts to obsess over the book in the 2nd game and disbelieves that they disbanded and stops doing what Interpol says and continues to research them despite orders.
Hope it makes sense. She is a relatively new character, as far as her new story goes.

Working for Le Paradox might actually be cool, though it also would beg a parallel between Riley and Neyla to arise. possibly
Well, here's another question? If she had an obsession with the T.R. before Interpol hired her, how did she find out about it? Did she even know about the Cooper Gang ahead of time? Is this why Interpol sought for her help/skills?
If there's no reasonable way to explain why something happens, and keep canon intact, scrap it. I don't see how the whole "photos of the T.R." would work and keep the continuity and pacing of the game.

In a sense, she IS new. I started making her back when Sly 3 came out in 200...5? i forget and back then she was just a character. There was no real storyline involved. Even if there was, I changed it completely and restarted. The only things that stayed the same were her name, her jeans, and her hat. Yup, even species changed. I just recently decided to bring her back and change her up.
No, she'd have to have been obsessed with the book after being hired.
I agree, I need a different method than "photos of the T.R.". I need her to have some way of getting herself enthralled with the book still though.

hmmmm, if she's working for/hired by Interpol. What makes her qualified to help them? That might help enormously.
And after having her purpose for being there established, she could be given a dossier that contains all the information that has been collected by previous Interpol agents *cougcoughCarmelitacough*, and learns about the book that way?... I dunno, that was what I tried to do with my FC at first, but I wasn't feelin' it, I changed her up a bit too, personality and profession mostly.
Maybe the more your FC looks into it the more she gets caught up in the lore of the Cooper Clan and does excess research to find out about the "secrets of the Cooper Clan's prestige"... I dunno man, trying to do stuff like this is tricky.

I try to be as helpful as possible, especially when the person getting the advise doesn't try and throw it in my face.
I've certainly been practicing as of late, seeing as I've been refurbishing my own FCs lol.
This is actually a good thing, starting off rough like this, it kinda gives you a checklist of things that you want to see in your character, and then you can try out theories and choose what's good and what isn't. We all gotta start somewhere.

I agree! Basically my whole gallery consists of fan-made characters, and Riley just happens to be a not-so-grand one XD I didn't put forth enough effort into her storyline because I don't really do anthro anymore ^^'

I hardly ever get GOOD critiques. I've only ever got two people throwing a fit because I did something that they took personally. One guy told me my art was good but asked me if I ever drew a different nose type... which I do.. the one they commented on was at an angle too pffffft.
I do pretty well on my own, once I step back for a while and review at my leisure. Hasn't blown up in my face yet.
Yeah, my handle isn't all that fear inspiring. Maybe because my art it sup-par, they think that I've got everything handled? I'unno.

I have to ASK if I want good critiques. No one ever wants to give them cuz their scared of hurting people's feelings. That's why I ask friends or other deviants.
I'd ask my family, but they don't look at me like an artist. They see me as their family member, which is not helpful lol
