Last, but certainly not least, Mario comes in hot to strike a pose following what looks to be a fiery escapade. Former superstar, modern-day Mr. Nice Guy, father of three, and husband of Damien Wolfe.

For now, I'm done giving my classic human guy OCs an upgrade. I'm confident more things will come with the future, and I haven't exactly abandoned my other characters either. My universe has only grown more every few years. Stay tuned!

It's been more recent with Mario, so here's one of the most recent times I've illustrated him: (Again, I honestly can't believe I'm calling 2020 "recent" anymore. I'll find a balance between all the content I want to produce.)

Mario's definitely changed the least of these three, so I might have overcompensated a little with some extra clothing details! He's just so fun to draw every time. I think the fingerless gloves on him are here to stay, which are partially a nod to Nintendo's usage of white gloves and partially there to signify Damien's sort of "bad boy" influence on his life. I finally changed his wing color, too, because I genuinely couldn't stand that light pink tone anymore. It's going to be more of a gray color now, and that'll be more evident in future art that isn't so tinted. Do you think he may like stars?

Because clarification is always good for things like this, Mario Wolfe is meant to be a fan character based off of the canon Super Mario character, but he's not meant to replicate his life or personality. Over the years, I learned that "kinsona" is actually a pretty fitting term for how I feel about Mario Wolfe, even if I wish I had a better word for it than that. I've adopted this character for a good... decade now? Wow, time flies. A lot of people would cringe at their old content, and as much as I certainly do (a little too often), I feel that I'm still pretty happy that I have him, and I've incorporated into him a lot of personality traits that I wish I had and aspire to be. Character designing's powerful stuff for a character designer.
