Orchid mantis. An apprentice geisha in the most important moment of her career. 18 years old. Dreamer, astute and competent in what she does. Her future is promising. Dedicated, but insecure. She fears failure, which leads her to withdraw into herself regarding her fears and uncertainties.
Blade Under Mask Synopsis:
Asazaki Nae has finally finished her training as a maiko. On the eve of the ceremony that will mark her transition from maiko to geisha, hallucinations begin to torment her and cause her to doubt her sanity. Her success is hanging by a thread.

The Character thing on Weasyl made me realize Nae's model sheet was really outdated. She went through some changes and since I've been getting some commissions with her, I thought I'd make a new one. I had fun drawing all those Naes! <3

Anthropamophosizing arthropods is a difficult task if you desire to include emotions. You have overcome this hurdle very gracefully. Your characters are unique in their design and hold your theme beautifully. I would dearly love to see a movie or a game with your world as the setting.

Caramba, como o cabelo dela é longo! Agora que parei pra notar. Normalmente, eu me distraio com outros detalhes de seus desenhos, que eu não parei pra notar o quão comprido é.
Mas, uma curiosidade, se o cabelo dela é tão longo assim, seu coque não seria maior? Sou terrível em proporções de cabelo pra coque, mas eu me lembro de uma professora minha que tinha o cabelo abaixo da bunda. O coque que ela fazia era quase do tamanho da cabeça dela. Admito, ela era uma pessoa bem pequena, mas ainda assim... Eu acho que ela tinha a altura da Nae.

This is a really lovely and well thought-out design. I especially like the shape on the nape of her neck that looks like the white make-up on a geisha's neck. Really nice touch! Is it part of her body's color or her maiko outfit? The hair is really amazing, too -- it manages to be unique and traditional at the same time.
