Been working on this for the last WHILE in between owed works.
Unlos' magic has always been inherent. In his younger years though, it would occasionally rise up uncontrollably, taking control of him. Huge swathes of land would be frozen and scorched once it was over. This leads other to avoid him, and for him to eventually isolate himself. As he got older, the magic became more controllable, but the legend of his great power lead others to continue to avoid him.
