Description
Oils on canvas, 36x24. One of my favorite obsessions is the Titanic. I just love the idea of such luxury. This is one of the few paintings I made for myself. Framed and hanging in my home. This painting is a study! I wanted to practice with small architectural detail and rigging. It was reproduced free hand. The original artist is Ken Marschall. Famous for his paintings of Titanic.
First attempt to upload a larger image failed. As well as the 2nd and 3rd. I finally figured it out and now it is a full size image.
I did this due to the very large amount of people that have chosen this picture as a favorite.....and I thank all for the compliments.
(I just spell checked this....I can't spell......so I paint)

ironicly i was googling pics of this famous ghost liner, found it and decided to take a look.
i myself have a great interest in ghost liners, of many kinds, andrea dorea, Britannic, titanic... etc...
and this is the best artwork i have found of this ship, i noticed you stated it is not just your work, so i can say you did the original and the ship a great justice. and with real oil paints amazing, i'm faving this for sure.

No, unfortunately this one is a copy study of a work based on a public domain image. So, while it is not strictly copyrighted by Marschal, I respect the elements that are probably original such as the sky and water. Sorry.

Hi,
How are you? I am a Ceramic Artist currently in the process of opening my own business making porcelain photographs, which I then frame. I can print anything onto the porcelain and I am currently looking for an Artist to collaborate with and I am really interested with your beautiful paintings of the titanic. I feel these would work really well printed onto porcelain. Let me know your thoughts on working with me if you would like me to send you some images of my work please let me know. You can email me on madibeattie@hotmail.co.uk I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards
Madeleine

There is no signature on this work. It is NOT the work of the original artist and since it is a copy study does not have my signature placed on it either.

Well...thank you....I guess, that you can't tell the difference between the actual work by Marschal and the hand painted copy study I made. LOL! But....generaly people read the summary when they have a question of that sort....and then read the rules and restrictions here on Diviant art.
Thank you.

I would have to agree. It is my own obsession. Its one of my pleasures to read up on the great ship, to learn about it. Your paint is wonderful, and so beautifully detailed. I love the way the sky off sets it. And how the Titanic is coming out of the darkness and into the light is just breath taking. Wonderful job. I added it to my favorites.

You're the best. I couldn't tell the difference between this one and the original by Ken Marshall. I've always been obsessed with the Titanic but I've never done a painting of it, you've just inspired me.

As a younger kid the Titanic was one of my greatest obsessions, I had all sorts of books and such on it. Then it faded away for years and just recently I remembered it and found some of the books again. And now that I've been in a few history classes I find the era that produced the ship to be fascinating as well.
So thank you for the great image as well as conjuring up some nostalgia from my childhood
