Description Lani, my Orange-winged Amazon parrot (Amazona amazonica). She scratches herself like that to pet herself when someone else isn't doing it for her.
She loves modelling for the camera.

Awww, Lani's precious! My parents' cockatoo used to do this thing with her claw, lightly and pensively scratching her neck and chin. She appeared to be in deep thought.

Beautiful bird i'm from Venezuela and i found one if this awesome birds in my grandpa's farm stuck in a tree about 10 years ago, i think he was domestic because he knew a lot of words but he's a grumpy and doesn't get along with anyone but me, that's what i love about them, they are really loyal to their owner, funny cuz i think he's actually older than me (17) it took me years to make him feel comfy with me, wish you luck with your beautiful bird.

No worries, I understand your english perfectly. These parrots usually become attached only to one person. I got lucky with my female, because she's fine with handling by four people, though only I can remove her from her cage. They're super intelligent and really fun to be around. Lani dances if I dance and sing with her, and can speak a few things.
