Description
I hoped that I could come up with an inspirational title. Sorry to disappoint o:Tumblr: spamalika.tumblr.com/post/7541…
Anyway! I really liked the last lineless thing I made, so I decided to make another one~ Then I thought that it was about time to make something Homestuck related again and decided on Davesprite because his color scheme really served what I was hoping to achieve. Besides, he is an awesome character I haven't drawn yet and I wanted to draw him sicne Namco High! Although I never played the game o:
This was supposed to be a speedpaint, but unfortunately I didn't manage to do more than this within an hour because I'm such a slowpoke. Another hour was spent on his shirt and arms and today I drew the wings and made it a bit shinier - I didn't really look at the time, but it took me maybe about 1-1.5 hours. So all in all I spent something between 3-4 hours on this picture!
Seeing how this was intended to be a speedpaint I was a bit messy here and there, but I still think this is fine. Actually, I am quite satisfied with the result. Satisfied enough to make more lineless stuff in the future! It's faster than doing lineart and I even prefer the result.
Critique is welcome so I can improve! ouo

Davesprite at the heart.
Is that inspirational? I'm not sure what you were going for...

Thanks for your suggestion! I thought something with "wings" or "freedom" would be cool, but "Wings of Freedom" is suddenly very "Attack on Titan" related which is also not my intention So I'll probably leave the title as is xD

You do very well with lineless pictures, I see ~ and, you know what? 3-4 hours is definitely not bad, when it comes to making a picture like this~! oo: I'd probably have taken more, like... Six... Seven hours...? :,DD
... Uhh... Aaanyway, I'm loving the detail you've put into his wing, the feathers, and the hair~<3 Although, I will admit, that I do think the feathers of his wing kind of blend together in a few places, just lacking a LIIITTLE bit of definition... Buuut, considering the kind of lighting you were going for, I actually think that works rather well for the picture. o.o That glow is almost heavenly~<3 *u*
... I think his expression could use just a little bit more definition, as well, maybe his ear a little bit, too. o.o But, other than that, I think you did a really nice job, for one of your first lineless speedpaint pictures~! X33 Keep up the good work, you'll get even faster and better at this ~ you're already far better at it than I could hope to be.

While it took me much longer than I wanted to spend on it (1 hour), actually... I was afraid it WOULD take me longer than 3-4 hours anyway Seeing it like that, the time spent on it isn't actually all that bad o: But to be quite honest, lineless art is faster than art with lines for me.... because I spend SO much time on hand-drawn digital lineart
Ahh, the feathers in his wing... the source of all frustration in this picture xD I'm glad it eventually turned out like it did, so I didn't want to risk ruining it completely by trying to define it more than that But I guess it works with that light etc anyway o: And I'm glad you like the glow ouo
Ohh you're right about his expression and the ear! o: It looked fine first, but I guess it became a bit harder to see when I added more shade in the end. I didn't notice that this happened in the meantime o.o I'll pay more attention to it from now on!
Pfff, when it comes to coloring digital art, you're superior if you ask me! At least you are when it comes to lined art

I have heard from people that homestruck is a bit iffy
but this is one beautiful drAwing
the greeny blue of the necklace draws your eye to it
and the various light and dark really make the drawing Stand apart
very detailed and SAI is manna from heaven for the digital artist

In how far would you say that Homestuck is iffy, if I may ask? o:
But thank you very much for the nice words about my drawing - I really appreciate that

The fandom is sometimes a bit strange, but usually absolutely nice! ouo Homestuck is something to get used to, but once you get past Act 1 (which I partly skipped at first to be quite honest) the story because complex, interesting, surprising and you will grow to love the characters! Maybe you can give it a try if you don't now what else to do, one day ^^
Heh, I can definitely agree that you're good at nice words!

I don't know much about Homestuck since I don't read it but from what I see here you really got some awesome color blending going on. So much warm colors blend in well with the background, especially good job on the wings...teach me your secrets. C:

It's never too late to give it a try
Thanks for your comment~ I use Paint Tool SAI and basically used the pen tool to make flat layers and then use the brush tool on a different layer to define structure (wrinkles, feathers,...) and shading! I also like to play around with layer effects when it comes to light. o:
