I think she's the most dynamic character, and I love that LoK has provided some pretty awesome females. This art, then, is both dynamic and awesome; how befitting. I love Lin's sacrifice. I love that it wasn't a little kid stepping in the way (ATLA kind of grated on me for that); this is an adult show, showing the serious side of things. And police work IS serious. It's clear she's stepped into the line of fire before; she's already sacrificed part of her face (I hope they do a flashback sometime). Incidentally I don't agree that she should get her bending back; I think she should continue to kick butt and take names, as a non-bender. Surely it wasn't the only thing that made her cool... >_>

I totally agree with you except on the last point
But Lin is like Korra, that's how I felt : she's a bender in the soul, until the depths of her bones. She lives for and through her bending. She would have no problem to continue to be a great warrior, full of panache and power, and she will not let defeat because of her lost. But I think something will be broken in her. And she not get over it completely...
But in one case as in the other, I know she will always be a strong and ferocious character ! But, and this is just my perspective, I think she will recover her bending

I... have some very serious thoughts on the theft of element-bending skills (as a metaphor for rape), so I really hope certain characters do start to recover from it -- even without regaining their bending, just to prove there is hope in the world, that bad things happen but life did go on.
