I played ME2 before I got the chance to play ME1 (PS3 version with that horrible comic ...) and even if Horizon was my first contact with Kaidan, my Shepard stayed faithful to him. The idea of starcrossed lovers being troubled by the death of one of them and the fallout after coming back just spoke to me. For the feelings Horizon was awful. For the drama of the relationship it was perfect (although it makes me sad that so many hate Kaidan for it and can't see his point of view or what the two years meant for him). I'm such a sucker for tragic lovers, it's not even funny anymore.
Anyway, your picture summs up what ME3 was like for me. So, it's easy to say that I like it a lot

In the same situation, I'm sure to react exactly like Kaidan, and I thanks Bioware to choose a credible and interesting reaction for this meeting on Horizon. Rejected the person that did suffer you, even if you love it, is a normal defense mechanism. And that's really exciting for their relationship in ME3 *0* I'm a fuckin big fan of tragical rivalmance, and as I play a Shepard full-renegade, it's even more interesting *3*//

His reaction (and Ash's) are very realistic and I find it so odd that so many hold it against them. To a degree I can understand how one might feel abandoned by him and chose to rather have their Shepards look for someone else but to simply not understand his point and/or hate him for it is just beyond me. Hm. I still need to finish a renegade Shepard from ME1 to ME3 sometime, I really want to see how it it different from paragon or a mixture, especially with Kaidan

I've been playing ME2 right now too. I played ME1 and I romanced Kaidan, so I'm obviously emotionally attatched to him, and those things he said on Horizon... I'm glad I'm playing as Renegade. Otherwise, I would have been WAY too nice.

Haha I play a whore-renegade, but Horizon is one of my favorite moment in Mass Effect : that's make sense to see this dispute between Shepard and Kaidan, and Kaidan who rejected Shepard. Because of Cerberus, because of the last two years, that's a normal defense mechanism : you push it for don't suffer too much. I'll act like Kaidan in the same situation, so I was both delighted and very hurt for my Shepard T3T
As I written in the dev "After Horizon", I imagine well my Shepard destroy half the armory once back on the Normandy, and Garrus forced to flatten her to ground for calm her at last. My Shepard is not very... delicate XD

Neither is mine. But... in Kaidan's defense, I know you get to romance him in ME3 but I'm cheating on him with Thane because I played Assassin's Creed before I played Mass Effect, so Assassins land in a soft spot in my heart.

And I just recently restarted the trilogy as well. ME3 may have the best game play but there earlier have so much in terms of amazing storyline. Worth dealing with the crappy graphics just for that. ME2 is my least favourite of the three - especially because of Horizon. I wish there was a way to do that section differently.

For my part, Horizon is one of my favorite moment of the trilogy, especially for the dispute between Shepard and Kaidan

I love ME3 the best because it is the best to actually play... but I also love ME1 for the storyline. I just wish that there was a way to explain things better at Horizon. Because to be honest, Shep does act like a complete jerk. Sure, he/she may have been dead for two years... but she goes to see Anderson and Liara but doesn't even send so much as an email to Kaidan or asks Anderson to send a message. Under those circumstances, I would be pretty pissed too.

But we are also told that Kaidan is unreachable at the beginning of ME2, so I found it very interesting as story progression : Kaidan is aware that Shepard is alive, Shepard can't contact him, they should worry, get angry, be nervous... and when they meet on Horizon, it does't surprise me that all this nervousness, this fear and feelings explode in a dispute. And that Kaidan sends a message to talk more, after this dolorous meeting. Indeed, this is exactly how I would like to write the script, so I was very happy ! But I have a special love for drama rivalmance and romance not really calm XD
