Description
Cold WarReal Name: Dima Alexi
First Appearance: Deviantart (8/9/2018)
Powers: Is biologically dead and will decay if not under constant near-sub zero conditions, as such he cannot heal from injuries, only have them stitched back together. However this does have the benefit of having Dima straight-up ignore any injuries which aren't serious enough to render his body mechanically mobile and has no biological needs save for refrigeration.
Equipment: A refrigerated containment suit that grants Dima super strength, super durability via armor plating. The suit is somehow integrated with its wearer, being unable to function without him in it and connecting to surgically implanted plug sockets in his body for some unknown reason. Unlike most cold-based weaponry, The suit and it's weaponry are designed around The Black-Zero Transmitter, a device that can create peculiar phenomenon using ultra short radio waves. When short enough, the radio waves can actually neutralize heat waves, resulting in intense cold. And when even shorter, it results in complete, impenetrable darkness, totally neutralizing light. This effect also resulted in Dima's suit having a special pair of Night Vision Goggles built into the helmet.
Origin
(---"Dima Alexis was the last surviving test subject of a Cold War-era supersoldier program, one that involved creating a soldier that can keep fighting even when their heart stops beating. This program however had the side effect of having said soldier be under constant cold or else their flesh rots right off their bones. And due to the enforced secrecy of the KGB, isolation, the loss of records when the Soviet Union fell and multiple failed experiments, nobody has any clue as to what was done on Dima to create him.
One part of the program after the flaw involving constant refrigeration became apparent, was the experiment involving the effects of ultra short radio waves, which were first discovered by American scientist, Bruce King , though his prototype of the Black-Zero Transmitter wasn't perfect as at such a frequency, the device broke after each successful use.
Luckily for the Soviets, with their budget and more advanced technology they were able to reverse engineer the device and impliment it in a containment suit for Dima, which now is a life saving asset in keeping him cool.
Though before Dima could be sent out for a field test, The Soviet Union had collapsed. So as to not have his sacrifice to Mother Russia go to waste, he became a mercenary for hire, still alive for so many years even after constant engagements with everyone his employer wants to have removed.
Dima's exploits got the attention of the Commitee of Intelligence and Defense, or C.I.D . for short. Who asked him to join their elite unit, The Bone Knives . Dima, now called Cold War, accepted when he found out about how much he will get paid after each successful mission.
However, The Bone Knives have this bad habit of having their 6th member die during a mission, so while Cold War survived longer then others due to his physiology, he still met an unfortunate fate during a mission where his suit malfunctioned and was compromised. Resulting in it heating up and Dima finally died as his flesh rotted right off of his bones."---)
One of the former members of The Bone Knives that perished, and their are a lot of them that I would like to go through. Still though, maybe after he died, Cold War's body managed to end up in The Super Sargasso-Sea where he resurrected, but is angry at his former Teammates for leaving him behind, even though the member, Sixpack, tried to fix his suit, which was an impossible task due to how much damage his suit took during the mission.
So the idea I wanted to go with is a team of formerly dead members of The Bone Knives, each having a bone to pick with the group due to how they were left behind to rot.
Also, I give thanks to BassoeG for his contributions for this character, such as having Cold War be inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's short story, Cool Air.
This character was made using Hero Machine 3.

A rudimentary redesign I threw together via hero machine, miscellaneous stock images and deepdream. Mostly because I liked the look of his vaguely atmospheric-diving-suit inspired helmet, with the glass of the faceplate constantly fogged up by condensation from room-temperature air meeting his cryogenic temperatures to the point where only the light of his eyes can be seen.

That's a pretty great lookin' design!
That's a thing I like about you, you put in some extra effort when designing your characters.
I hardly ever think of using stock images and Deepdream after I use Hero Machine, for some I look up different textures so as to make them stand out a bit more.

Interesting power (or rather gadget) he has. I can imagine how difficult it will be for his former allies to fight him.

Love the Lovecraftian inspiration that went into this one.

Thanks!
Would this guy also be a good rival / villain for The Great Iron Bear?
