Description
So I've taken a one picture break from my own material to draw two of my favorite comic characters, Lex Luthor and his Amazon bodyguard Mercy. What can I say? I adore ruthless villains who get what they want, especially when it means destroying everything in their way. Moo ha ha!
Lex Luthor and Mercy Graves are property of DC Comics

Hope had a lobotomy. Hope knew too much and had a big mouth. Shame on Hope.

That is awesome work...I really do love your style. It's so unique, and it almost looks like something I'd see in a professional comic book. I'd buy it, of course, and stare at the art all day, wishing I could come close to drawing profiles this well.
Just amazing. Lex Luthor is a wonderful, beautiful villain.

well, i'm not a comic guy (...i should get into that), but i was a die-hard super-man (the animated series) fan - so, i've always thought of luthor as black (and yes, slightly "bulkier". however, as he is white here (and i don't know why that makes a difference) he seems more like the iron headed asshole that he is supposed to be as you've drawn him (skinny). lol, what i'm saying is: very awesome job even though i was expecting something else. lol, christ i just can't say it nicely.. please ignore the rest and understand this as: very awesome.
mercy is also very fitting, she looks run down and slightly depressed and subserviant.. but something in the way she is posed makes her look "ready" - which is absolutely amazing - exactly how i see her. you really have a gift for capturing emotion in a face (and in pose, and in color... lol).

Bwahaha! Why thank you, yes you should get into comics!
I adore the animated series but umm...Lex wasn't black in it. He has a dark skin tone though...and that lovely voice...I just love Clancy Brown tee hee...
Anyhoo, thank you for the compliment. I really like the later LEX 2000 type Lex...I agree, he's not quite as scrawny as I draw him but then again he's not a large fellow either. Pascual Ferry draws the best Lex hands down...Mercy too for that matter.
I was really hoping to capture that mood with Mercy. She's an extremely underrated character. Heck, she's fought Superman, Doomsday, the Joker, and Batman. She deserves some credit and a pay raise!

WHAT?!? lol, lex is too black... isn't he? hmm... research time (tick tock), ok.. maybe indian.. here is a [link] with a picture and pretty interesting background story about luthor. he is definately not your every day caucasion skin tone. i guess they couldn't pitch a "black person" as the arch enemy of super-man.. hmm, would he be called arch enemy? i know hes a bad ass whatever role/skin tone, lol.
i agree about mercy, she's definately bosed around way too much - wasn't there some episode (of the animated series) where mercy got back at luthor?
uh oh.. random-ness creeping in, abandon all hope yee who read further:
you know the original lois lane from the movies? i actually met her in person a year or so ago (less i think), and now she is very into the Vagina Monologues (a theater-play) and femi-nazi (please excuse the term) stuff. i didn't know who she was but my mom and her group of friends were hosting (right word?.. uh, helping out while in town) her and so after the play they were discussing how woman are so mistreated and men are all assholes (exageration.. i don't really remember what was said), and i pointed out that feminism was bullshit (nicer words though) and so were sexist men - that the answer did not lay in one way or the other, but in a combination and understanding of both sides, and that working to promote (solely) feminism was counter productive for humans in general (again, different nicer words - but they were all speechless). i had not been introduced to her, but when she left she pulled one of those "nice to meet you" lines, and i said "nice to meet you too even though i have no idea who you are" (yeah.. i was kinda an ass that night) and my mom about crapped herself. the lady just laughed but my mom gave me a lecture about how not to do that and told me who she was, it was an interesting night.. even though it has nothing to do with this pic. hmm.. sorry attaya.. just came out.

Your story has to be the funniest thing I've seen today, I can just imagine the look on her face LoL. Margot Kidder is a whack-job anyway. Lol, that's just funny. I'm giggling like a maniac. I am against discrimiantion in any form or fashion. I love everyone, I'm a happy happy person ^_^
Lex is definitly caucasian, trust me. All of the mechandise and comics that focused on the Animated Series indicate it. (BTW The comic version of the World's Finest miniseries is a must read)
The episode you're thinking of is Ghost in the Machine. She wasn't getting back at him, she was trying to find him after he was kidnapped and teamed up with Superman. It's a good one

Huh... interesting. You art reminds me a lot of Huberto Ramos actually. And although I recongize Lex, I think he looks better when he's a little bit bulkier. I don't mean fat, mind you, just more neck rebar, flatter forehead, etc. He looks fine here, but (and you have to pardon me; I draw comics, we can be a little anal sometimes.) he borders a little bit on looking like Professor Xavier.... or maybe Moby on a good day.

While I appreciate the comment I don't really see the Ramos comparison. I've never liked the more bulked Lex, it just never seemed right to me. I don't like bulky characters in general so while I am capable of drawing them, I don't do it very often.
And on a side note, I suppose I'm a bit too sensitive but the comment "He looks fine here, but (and you have to pardon me; I draw comics, we can be a little anal sometimes.) " just seems condescending. Forgive me if this wasn't the intention.
Have a happy.

Heh... my apologies, attaya. I meant you no offense, only just some friendly criticism. I come from the school of thought that people saying "You r0x0rz my s0x0rz," while always nice, doesn't get you anywhere. Further, I didn't mean to sound condescending, it's just that I was poking fun at myself for being a continuity junkie and for even caring how you were drawing President Luthor.
Happy a happy as well, lass.

Ah, I see. Thanks then, I'm not very used to that. I don't normally see the generic "r0x0rz my s0x0rz" comments and I agree with you. It's nice but...well ya know.
Thanks again, be well.
