I think you should use the stripe version because of where you'll apply it. It's simple to adapt and seems to have some nice variations.
The wing version will be quite nice with rich graphics, like websites, videos, flash animations and etc.
About the tire, I think you should use a vector-like one. Textures are cool to use to do some variations, but the original has to be vector ... at least is that what I think ...
Anyway, it's an amazing work. You've been off a while, like me (in my case, I'm studying and working a lot) but keep it on
