but uh--it's black and white, and i want variety. >_____< i just want to make a sepporate fucking photography portfolio. you don't even know. i just don't think i can give someone a good idea of my work without adding fifteen photographs, you know?

i'm wondering if i should talk to hott :/ i htink i'm using the one of misty and her tongue, the soup guy in NYC, the picture you printed for your mom, and the one with angie with the A on her finger. for film, it'll be the knight hands andn my tapestry rose, plus the hand coloured and photogram. and i'mm 'thinking of using the tryptich, since everyone seemed to like it? but i already have you twice counting the ad, so is that too much of the same model?

Hm. Well. I know you want variety, which is understandable...but you do a lot more human-centered photography than anything else, so if you're worried about too much black and white, but you want to represent yourself accurately...maybe you should use the picture of Taylor instead of the one of Misty?

I think you should just use 'em both, personally. And since you do more photography than anything else...wouldn't it make sense for you to have more photographs than anything else? Because a portfoilio is supposed to give a variety of your work, yes, but it is also supposed to be an acurate representation of your work, which would include the ratio of how much you use one medium compared to another. Right?

I don't know. I guess it's up to you. But how you're always trying to get not-so-art-focused people to understand the difference between a 'hotograph' and a 'fucking PHOTOGRAPH'? This is that second brand, and I think you'd be amisss not to include it.

okay, so here's what i'm looking at:

-4 film photographs
-5 digital photographs
-4 digital pieces
-3 paintings
-1 charcoal nude

17 seems like a couple too many, since most portfolios are only supposed to be 10-15. aldklffjfj;


and did you really think that was a PHOTOGRAPH? eh... i liked it, but i wasn't really blown away i guess... >___< eeeeer. but you're totally right about the people thing. totally, 100% right.

i think i'm just going to put everything i want in it, regardless of numbers, and make schnyder help me out. or maybe guze--i'm sure she's seen more portfolios than any of the other teachers.

Well, I don't know anything about the numbers aspect of portfolios...but if you think the numbers are important, definately ask one of the art teachers. After all, we've only got a couple weeks left where they're obligated to help us. Take advantage of that.

And I do think that picture is a PHOTOGRAPH. I don't know exactly what it is about it, but it's a very striking image. I think part of it may be the oblique angle, and part of it is definately the lighting. I don't know. I saw that picture and I did that thing where I pawed animatedly at the computer screen for lack of better reaction going, "Ahh-ah!!"

...which sounds real funny in type but you probably know exactly the reaction that I'm talking about.

And whatever your decision on the numbers and shit, you've still got a little less than 24 hours to think about it, and after that you can ask Schnyder or whoever what they think.
