I like how you guys have full fledged conversations in here haha
I agree, the two photos are a bit discomforting together
That "lightening" [] shoot seems like it'd be more fun with people you don't know.
But I'm all for the every person ever known by you idea too :]

yeah, but then i realized that i'd need a lot of extention cords to power those lights on some city street >___< still. i think i'm going to start it sometime this weekend with my father (who looks like one bmf biker, which he essentially is) and my thesbian brother, who will be dressed up as a mime. :]

Did Kate tell you we ran into her in North Hampton?
She had the best reaction I've ever witnessed.

yeah :] i heard it from erin, whom kate called right after it happened, haha

i think if you guys showed up randomly while i was at school, i'd fall over. really.

so... how's school? :] i think i'm going to bully liz into coming up and seeing you guys--the pictures you & will are taking look effing amazingly awesome / fun.

Kind of makes you remember the times when models and actresses used to smoke galore.

...you know. I don't know if I like the set. I love both of the images individually (though to be honest I like the one on the right better)...but I'm not so sure about the diptych. The pictures don't interact, enough. I don't know - I feel like when you're putting a pair of images so similar together, there has to be only one major difference or they have to be very minor differences. I just don't think it works with the different angles AND the different poses; it's jarring, but not necessarily in a good way. To make this work as a set, I think you need more images. Hell, maybe even a different set up would help...

i realized that after i came out of photography class today :/ and i totally like the right image a lot more. aaaaah... the project didn't go over so well. -____- still. our next assignment is all about lighting, no matter how we interpret that. new idea: getting a bunch of great lighting (woohoo going to the bank!) and setting up an entire studio outside in hartford somewhere, and asking random people to sit down so i can take their picture.

one afternoon in hartford and i'll nail an A. what do you think??

...definately thought that said "our next assignment is all about lightening." And then I read "going to the bank" and got really confused, and was about to tell you that you can't really buy weather...

Then I realised that I'm dyslexic. Heh.

I think that sounds like a great idea - but may I suggest not Hartford? Hartford you're going to get mostly people that look the same...AKA ghetto. ...though I do supposed that depends on where (and when) in Hartford you're planning on setting up shop, but whenver someone says "Hartford" to me, I think "Webster" and that area, so... I dunno, maybe try outside a mall, or a restaurant on a Friday night? Or maybe at some random school (be it HS or a college campus). Fuck, even a fast food place on the Turnpike. I think you'd get more of a variety of people, that way. Unless you don't care so much about variety and just need subjects.

i dyslexia <3

and yeah--i don't like the idea of hartford either, but i need somewhere where a bunch of people are going to be. if we do in front of a fast food place though, we could get the cops called on for soliciting something / loitering. i like the idea of the turnpike though... but where?

i'm also thinking of just doing this with random people i know. you, obviously... alison, capt beaty, ferby & toby, your father (if he would?), my grandparents, maybe some kids in my photography class, starr, luis, will / jason (if i could get to them), steve... i don't know. i'd have to make a list, but i think that'd be a fun project. eventually, i could just collect the people i meet. who knows--depending on how many i get for this project, i might start backtracking to all of the people i *knew*, assuming this goes well the first time around. like, jessica, alex, old teachers (even before high school for the love of god)...

wow. i'm getting really into this really fast. but before i start: what do you think about that??

I think using people that you know/knew sounds like an even better idea than random people, because the random people would make for a good story...but you can get the people that you know/knew to do things that will make for better photographs that you wouldn't necessarily be able to get random people to do. Like standing on their heads or getting naked or putting on shiny gold dresses. Haha.

But - can I suggest that if you use people that you know, you use all absolutely plain backgrounds? Try and do like a characture (god help my spelling), almost, maybe...like, exaggerate one part of each persons personality? I think if you did that, with an extreme emphasis on lighting, with a plain solid colour background, that'd look abosolutely freaking brilliant, especially when put together as a whole.

yeah--i'm just going to use my plain black backdrop to keep the pictures consistent. and i'm going to try to take crazy pictures of everyone :] like you--you're going to get glamour lighting and get to look like a porn star. or just punk rock :] or both. and if i do someone older (my grandmother? i don't know who else... fortier wouldn't be old enough) i'm thinking direct side lighting to emphasize wrinkles. i'm thinking of doing some experimental lighting stuff too, but i'll have to read more about that... god, i have *no* idea how long i have to do this project.

and they're all going to be in black and white, i think. i think i'll just like them a lot better that way. also, i can do some in film.

only problem: who the hell would have an interesting silhouette? we don't have any friends with mohawks anymore...

Honey? You've got two boys with mohawks that'll let you take their pictures. Ricky, and Kyle.
