I've been feeling rather unhappy with my art lately, so I thought it might be time to redraw an old piece to prove to myself that I actually achieved something over the years.It's nothing special, just a rather boring portrait but I think that's what made it so relaxing to paint. Sometimes it's nice to stay in your comfort zone and just do something you really enjoy and feel confident about.
I'm sure there are a lot of mistakes I didn't notice yet and I won't like it anymore in maybe a year from now. But for the moment I'm relatively content with the outcome.

I think it's stellar, actually, one of your best. The facial features are all well done and the hair flows beautifully. I could get lost in those eyes. Was this originally purely original or did something inspire you?

It was inspired by and old portrait I did of the same character, so I'm not exactly sure if taking inspiration from oneself still counts as purely original.
The whole thing was a test to see how much I improved over the last years.

Thank you! I'm glad it starts to look more like an actual human although of course it's still semi-realism at best. Which I don't mind, I prefer stylised art over realism most of the time.

It would be quite interesting, mostly because most of my characters' hair is a bit gravity-defying. Maybe when I have some money saved I'll commission someone although I assume such realistic commissions can be quite expensive...

Yes and I think they deserve every bit of it, I personally don't think I'd ever have the patience for something like that. It's really impressive.
