Sashaq leaned closer to the bubbling cauldron and sniffed delicately.
“Well?”
The black pearl sunburn mare looked up at Frosted Stitches. He appeared eerier than usual, the stitches of his blue ragdoll coat pattern highlighted by the light coming from purple substance in the cauldron. “Why are you asking me?”
Stitches snorted. “You’re the witchblood, aren’t you?”
“But you’re far older than I.”
“Don’t sass me. I have seen plenty but I am not skilled in identifying the nuances.”
“What do you think it is?”
“Shall we go back home where you can stall from inside a straw-filled stall?”
Sashaq grinned, an expression more at home on Stitches’ face than hers. “Oh fine. It’s a voodoo curse, specifically attuned to,” she sniffed, “fornbloods. This isn’t one you drink or cast from afar, though, it’s a coating solution and impotent in this state. In order to use it, the batch has to cool, which will make it congeal, and then the maker needs to cut out blocks that they heat and stretch like taffy.”
“Fornbloods eat candy?”
“Hey, humans feed us peppermint which is considered a candy.”
“Ah, I see now. Well, are you going to help me dump it?”
“With pleasure.”
Yikes, dump it for the good of all horses!
