what is this obsession with skin

that causes me
to lose consciousness,
to love without loving
and have bite
lacking ill intent?

to defy the boundaries
set by conventions
such as family
and friends,

the stares of whom
disappear once you
stroke the back of my neck?

with those two eyes
you have unraveled me,
simply
spun my cares
and clothes
out the window,
sent them to a time
of future empathy.

and as i stand,
quite bare to you
in all but spirit,

i can't help but wonder
if the apathy of
all these small moments
hasn't generated
an utter loss in you
as well.
