I walk cobblestone streetsand brightly lit avenues,
cities full of life
and traces of ghosts.
History haunts,
clacks with each step.
Still,
I'd give the world to forget.
Flash to:
a theatre,
cold hardwood flooring,
the echoes of piano
and a vibrant voice
killed by wine
poorly aged.
Steeped in mystery.
The junkie's soliloquy.
Sing us a song,
came cries from the crowd.
While they miss
the whispered melody line,
most beautiful song
never heard.
Imagine:
an empty table
balancing three glasses
and two halves of a soul.
Destination for the lost.
Pegged dangerous alone.
Sing me a song,
he requests with a frown.
With his peacock poise
worn to a man's curiousity.
I nurse his chocolate gaze,
unforeseen tragedy.
Take a breath and
watch him dissolve again.
Most beautiful song...
House of ghosts.
Useless nights, spent
with susurrations of
the hopeless dead.
I walk the world to escape.
But they follow in my stead.
