Description
I'm not the biggest Riddick fan in the universe, but I did enjoy the movies (other than watching Pitch Black for the first time when I was younger, and had the crap scared out of me).I knew when I started this that I didn't want to create the image everyone was going to create...so I ended up going in a stylistic rather than realistic direction. I knew I wanted Riddick in silhouette, and I wanted to try drawing the aliens (as I haven't done any dragons for a while and I kinda miss it).
Done with Prismacolors and Copics, with some touching up in Photoshop. I had to scan it in four pieces :/

The strongest parts of this piece are your color choices, the stylized rendering of the rocks and clouds, and I think you handled the creature in the lower right very well. The composition is what really holds back the action here. The scene flattens out a lot, especially with that cape running off of the edge and because the figure in the center is so backlit, the creature to his right seems to leap beside him or in front of him rather than a sneak attack.
I really like the use of that yellow as the light in the piece, however you could definitely go darker in the rocks and creatures. The major issue is an inconsistency in the lighting.
Welp, that was fun.
