Ok, so I downloaded Autodesk Sketchbook today and started playing around with it and testing the features. What started out as a test sketch suddenly turned into a pretty refined digital painting. I then made the colour corrections and final tweaks in Gimp 2.8.One other thing is that with Sketchbook's fast brushes and tools I could FINALLY make some really nice hair, which in Gimp due to laggy brushes, painting hair isn't really ideal!
