Sigh. I still have this love-hate relationship with my camera when it comes to taking photos of good opals - opals that deserve a lot more than my Canon and I seem to be able to give them when I'm trying to show them online. But then again, I don't own a lightbox and lights - too much outlay for the moment...so I guess I get what I get.But I digress.
This opal is one of the lot of the very expensive ones ~oldbob cut from some lovely rough that also produced [link] It was originally paired with earrings, but those went with the first piece that formed the set for my friend and this one is left to speak of some of that beauty.
I tried several different ways of photographing this one, but this again was the best I could get. My apologies for my stubborn camera and photography skills!

It looks really lovely. And I love that effect with the wires on the bottom, how you peel off the two wires at different angles. I can never get that right, and it looks so nice with this stone especially, like it's blooming
