Description
Myazvex are a sophont species from a world that lacks visible light, Torr. Torr does receive some light, or else it would have no life, but it is not enough for vision to be of any use.
The coloration that Myazvex do have is from their hemocyanin based blood showing through their unpigmented skin, hemocyanin selected for since Torr is a consistently cold planet, regularly dropping below zero Fahrenheit on a regular day and there's no seasons, it's always cold. Darker regions have a denser concentration of blood vessels, and chitin structures are non-pigmented and white.
The elongated skull of a Myazvex is not that long at birth. It elongates as the baby grows older, containing an organ used to process sound input and is responsible for the "sonic vision" that Scorpiomorphs have. They can see images, just not in color, with their advanced echolocation.
If Torran lifeforms were exposed to even an average amount of sunlight, it would burn them and give them skin cancer because they have no protection from UV radiation at all. Their world is non radioactive and barely receives any sunlight, so it's not an issue for them. But if they visit other worlds with ample amounts of light, they wear protective suits.
Their lifecycle is strange by the standards of humans, as both parents take turns gestating the young. But it's still an improvement over being parasitoids. The father survives giving birth since he has a specialized uterus, and can do it again. The baby that comes out is on the small side and its elongated skull has not developed yet, so the pain threshold for the father is low for a sophont, about a 7/10 on a pain scale. This is comparable to arkesiel, which are also fairly small at birth.
