Description One of my best, IMO, pics of Miyazaki's anthro wolf version of Professor Moriarty.

Lyrics to two songs suit this pic. First is from Garbage's song "Temptation Waits".
"I'll tell you something
I am a wolf but
I like to wear sheep's clothing
I am a bonfire
I am a vampire
I'm waiting for my moment
You come on like a drug
I just can't get enough
I'm like an addict coming up for a little more
And there's so much to say
I cannot walk away
I've never needed anybody like this before
I'll tell you something
I am a demon
SOme say my biggest weakness
I have my reasons
Call it my defense
Be careful what you're wishing
Well I'm not sure what I'm wishing for
Well I'm not sure what I'm living for."

And the second titled this piece. It's by Third Eye Blind, "Narcolepsy":
"I'm on a train
And there's no one at the helm
And there's a demon in my brain
It starts to overwhelm
And there it goes, my last chance at peace
I lay me down, but I get no release
I try to keep awake
I try to swim beneath
But still I find this narcolepsy slide
Into another nightmare
And there's a demon in my head, it starts to play
A nightmare tape loop of what went wrong yesterday
And I hold my breath till it's more than I can take
And I close my eyes and dream that I'm awake
I read dead Russian authors
Volumes at a time
I write everything down except what's on my mind
Cause my greatest fear is that sucking sound
And then I know that I will never get back out
And there's a bone in my hand that connects to a drink
In a crowded room where all the glasses clink
And I'll buy you a beer and we'll drink it deep
Because that keeps me from falling asleep
Keep awake
Keep awake
Keep awake
Still I find this narcolepsy slides
How'd you like to be alone and drowning?"

Yep. A rose in one hand and a gun in the other.

They are all very good, this one may have more detail, but you did wonderfully on all of them, it's just a different style^_^

Not familiar with the anime character, but this is a really nice piece! I love all the detail with the clothing folds and pretty purple fur! Very nice.

Also- Narcolepsy by Third Eye Blind is one of my favorites!

Also also- I your signature! Disorganization and optimism and fireflies and ice cream and Kerry and Edwards all the way!

LOL from that assessment of my work, I think I like you, too

The character is from an old Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke) cartoon in the 1980's--an exceptional and touching series in which the Sherlock Holmes characters became anthro dogs. THis character is the villain and one of the main characters (allegedly a villain--I think he's way too cute and sweet half the time to be bad, which incidentally is why I am fond of him ^_^) If you like anthros or anime, you ought to look the show up sometime. WATCH THE MIYAZAKI DIRECTED EPS FIRST, though, they are like a thousand times superior to the other ones.

I appreciate the compliments. I think I'll check your gallery out now....

Oooh, sounds very interesting! I loved Spirited Away, what I've seen of Princess Monoke seems pretty awesome as well.

It's much more light hearted than those--more like Kiki's Delivery Service (made by Miyazaki as well) But again, yes, it's a wonderful series.

I love that incarnation of the famous Doyle villain! ^_^ My only qualm with him is he's way too adorable to really be evil He's all over in my gallery, have a gander sometime

That is VERY nicely done! A wonderful picture of that version of Moriarty indeed... and far more serious than he acts in the anime. I really like this a lot!

heehee thanks. I tend to blend the original Sir Doyle Moriarty with the Miyazaki one. I like the occasional serious, creepy spouts (although the animated Moriarty DOES act seriously creepy at rare times ) of the "real" Moriarty combined with the endearing sweet side of doggie one.

I appreciate the comments coming from an accomplished cartoonist like yourself! Cartooning really is not my specialty, even though I do it a lot in the off season, so it's nice to hear encouragement!

nice interpretation of Moriarty, almost like he's teetering on the edge of sanity, and we wonder is he going to aim that gun at his head and blow his brains out, or is it the love for a certain Miss Hudson that keeps him from doing the deed, therefore the single crimson red rose whose thorns pierce his gloved hands and perhaps the flesh under the fur remind him of her pain that she would suffer if he DID do the deed.

That poignet reminder of how one persons decision affects the lives of those around them is what makes this picture worthy of adding to my favourites.
