Description
I am really getting into this BEAUTIFUL rpg at the Hidden Lab of Dr. Von Seyss, which is run by and houses other DA members like , , and , and is all about hurt and jaded and supposedly evil people who find out they get a second chance at love and life, and can surmount any obstacle with happiness and compassion. ^_^ SoI finally inked the B&W version (someday I SHALL color this) of the four main characters (there are actually many others):Left: Phileas Chenoa, martial arts expert, a gentle soul who can fight if he must, property of Megavolt'sGirl/Gabby. I believe he and his sister Juliet are also orphans, and they are half-AMerican, half-Indian.
Next: Roxi Deveroux, the guarded, jaded, dark, seductive, and yet on top of it all loving and giving young bar singer, with a past involving an abusive and cruel father and an estranged sister named Vixie. Property of Jacqui Holmes.
Next (the tall one X^D) : Captain Sebastian Doran, Professor Ratigan's closest friend-turned-unexpected-hero/guardian of Roxi D. An embittered war veteran and personal assassin to Ratigan, who would like to think that he is callous towards things like love but really is deeply pained by his dualistic good and evil soul and simly wants to feel accounted for by another living creature. Doran is actually a canonical figure of the Eve Titus stories, based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's villain Colonel Sebastian MORAN, but many fans have given him their own interpretation/slant because Titus does not give his character much exposure in her books beside bit appearances where he is trying to kill Basil of Baker Street
Right: Juliet Chenoa, teenage sister of Phileas, a total firecracker and extremely emotional, angstridden chick,

Yeah, about that...never mind, lol. We'll talk later if it's necessary. But I think things are cool. I watched a couple other people at Vonny's get into a minor argument today and I got a small er...snotty remark thrown my way about a fan design, but hopefully it won't go anywhere and it is settled. I should like to think the others at Vonny's will retain their usual sense of maturity and amicability. If they don't, I'll shoot myself (metaphorically, not literally!!) and then leave, lol! ARG!

I read this more thoroughly after I'd already sent my note. I hope it is in fact settled, and I'm glad. I hate to see anyone's feelings hurt, and frankly we all need to have a little discussion about constructive criticism. It's entirely possible to point out a fault, if any, and still preserve a person's self-esteem. On the other hand, I've dealt with people who don't take criticism at all and run off whining like little two-year olds. When they react that way, it's no one's fault but their own.
For myself, I'm on the fence about criticism. I can take it if it IS constructive; at the same time, we all need to remember here at DA that many of us haven't had the benefit of sophisticated art training and techniques, and are only showing our art in the spirit of fun.
I'm okay with it if someone says, "This needs some work, ya da ya da..." or like that, you know? That is definitely constructive criticism, especially if they offer friendly suggestions on improvement. Stuff like, "This sucks", "You referenced your (my, someone else's) art" , "It's crap", and accusations that aren't warranted do NOT decidedly fall into the constructive category.

I haven't read any response to my note yet, but what you've said on this page is precisely what I believe and why I acted how I did. All there is to it!

Oh, I understand entirely. There's a similar problem over at FF.net; I've seen reviewers lambast stories to a fare-thee-well. That hasn't happened to ME yet but I still don't like it.
I can see the point if there's some really offensive material involved, but even then there's room for tact.
