Let's not even mention how horrible sharpening any blast weapon can go. "HANG ON GUYS! LEMME SHARPEN MY FREAKING BELL!" -the sharpening process proceeds to make a spark and then suddenly the team finds them self with 1 less member on the team-

Don't played, but probably it uses ONE ANIMATION FOR ALL weapons. Because when you fainted, you always do the same. Like that:
1) You hitted by Narga's tail slam - fainted (but you're pierced through by tail spikes and fixed on the ground); 2) you knocked out and should fly 10 meters away - no no no, fall on your knees and then fully on the ground; 3) you burned to death by D-Jho or Agnaktor and should become history - no, i'm fine, just fainted.

That structure of comment should be a meme. Starting now
Dark souls, trying to kill the gaping dragon the for the seventh time now armed with dung pies and the toxic mist pyromancy, I then realis I'm lobbing shit and spewing poison at an over sized vagina dragon...I have not been the same man scince

I always thought that the weapons never really dull and sharpening is just cleaning the gunk off it (this idea falls apart when you consider that hitting a rock will decrease sharpness)

Not only that but you think he sharpens the corners of the hammer but nope Every Monster Hunter sharpens the hilt.

It's not even just hammers. My friend pointed out the Swordfish great sword, we all expected to hit using the sharp nose. Nope, you grab it by the nose and slap it with a fish body.
You would also think that a hammer with spikes should count for sharpness of cutting tails....

Gun Hammer, What is the purpose? And if you sharpen it and it is loaden with gunpowder, most likely sparks will explode it, same with gunlance.

Whoever came up with the gun hammer must have been, "shoot my gunlace broke, better make it a hammer."
What doesnt make sense is why your sharpness determines if you can still shoot with a gunlance.
Hunting horn is the same, blunt instrument, still needs sharpening, despite no cutting capabilities.

Logic is broken in the game, best not to try and figure it out. It is like using that ham hammer or popcorn gunlance, or maybe even shark lance.

Physics is even more broken in 4. You jump off ledges much higher than before, and more often. XD

Eh, nanomachines can explain it. What drives me crazy is the hunters endurance. Can survive a flashbang grenade and still see, A sonic bomb going stunning giant beast but no effect on hunters. Can breath underwater for 10 minutes and can survive jumping off a mountain. Getting trample by 1 ton monsters and etc.

It's not the hunter's endurance. It's the hunter's badassery! :3
I mean the hunter can kill humongous, powerful monsters while taking massive hits without any broken bones or internal injuries!
Not to mention that the hunter will ALWAYS return back to the hub world completely fine.

I have taken on a guy who tossed a 50,000 ton mech like it was nothing and I made him look pathetic. You are telling me that the average human survives on nothing but badassery? Nanomachines are more easily explainable than that!

I came up with a answer. They have reinforced stilts and the potions help dull the pain. For a trip across many lands, it could take weeks. Deserted Island to Volcano could take a couple weeks, so after the quest, the Hunter lays down and slowly recovers until he/she gets back to partake in another quest.

It's like that evasive move hunters do when their running from monsters. And the Long Swords that are longer than their scabbard.

Despite all of the strange ideas in physics, it's still really fun to play.
To be honest, they probably could change impact damage weapons by removing the sharpness gauge, but I don't really know what they could compensate for it aside from making it more imperative to hit certain monsters in certain areas.
