They are known as hummingbirds because of the humming sound created by their beating wings which flap at high frequencies audible to humans. They hover in mid-air at rapid wing flapping rates, typically around 50 times per second, [1] but possibly as high as 200 times per second, allowing them also to fly at speeds exceeding 15 m/s (54 km/h; 34 mph), [2] backwards or upside down. [3] [4]
Hummingbirds have the highest metabolism of any homeothermic animal. [5] To conserve energy when food is scarce, they have the ability to go into a hibernation-like state (torpor ) where their metabolic rate is slowed to 1/15th of its normal rate.Tools:

Clever, the way how you captured the hummingbird's wings in mid flight like that. The flowers look pretty, too.

Now i think i am the one should be thanking you for the wonderful artistic conversations we have exchanged (and still exchange ) the past months, its always such a nice feeling to communicate with another artist in the same wave length. I do feel guilty from time to time with you, i feel like i have dragged you away from your graphite pencils and infected you with the 'color' virus, but then i think it over and i realize that it wasnt my fault, your time to start digging deeper into the color pencils field would have come sooner or later (with or without my meddling with).
At this point if i am to "predict" a little further what is to come, i believe that a time will come where you will start to mix your media too. (omg i am a bad influence 
i am happy and honored to be friends with you just so you know, i suspect i wont go any time soon, back to the color pencils, at least till i am done with the big canvasses that i need to deliver in summer, your Hummingbird is a rare gem, i love it as much as i loved your Macaw, i truly believe in my heart there is no medium you can not bend into your will if you try to, because you are very talented and very persistent. A wonderful combination.
