Drawing a Sparrow bathing, coloring with Pastel sticks and pencils on paper.
Sparrows are a family of small passerine birds, Passeridae. They are also known as true sparrows, or Old World sparrows, names also used for a particular genus of the family, Passer. They are distinct from both the American sparrows, in the family Passerellidae, and from a few other birds sharing their name, such as the Java sparrow of the family Estrildidae. Many species nest on buildings and the house and Eurasian tree sparrows, in particular, inhabit cities in large numbers, so sparrows are among the most familiar of all wild birds. They are primarily seed-eaters, though they also consume small insects. Some species scavenge for food around cities and, like gulls or rock doves will happily eat virtually anything in small quantities. From Wikipedia

oh i've never seen a sparrow coloured like that. usually they're brown and light grey like the ones on wikipedia .
but i haven't seen one in years. i've heard they've been exterminated in australia as agricultural pests.

Yes, You are rigt. I took some artistic licence with the colors . The real drawing is not so saturated and the intensity depends on the light

Sure, Clairefontaine pastelmat is the paper brand. It has rough tooth that you can smooth and blend with the fingers once the pigment is applied. Hope that helps

Wonderful! That's exactly the kind of paper I bought. Now all I have to do is figure out when to apply light colors first and when to apply dark colors.

I did check out some of your videos as well as others. There is a big difference when working in graphite and working in pastel. I have found it's better to work from dark to light in pastels which is just the opposite with graphite. I really like the Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper. I just posted my first piece using it. Thanks for your help. Cheers!

Ooh, I love this one! You can clearly see that it's an Old World House Sparrow, and every feather is clearly visible. I love how you did the water and the water droplets around the sparrow, too! It makes the scene look like it's frozen in time. These little birds deserve more art of them; they're actually quite beautiful, I think.
