Description Think of this as a companion piece to this picture  I did a while back for ...well, except not as detailed. This map is the result of a lot of time spent fleshing out the Kingdom of Sekeolath and figuring out its history...and there's a lot of it. For instance, Sekeolath is a modern-day pagan nation; Christian missionaries didn't get too far in converting the locals, and so the modern day faith is a mixture of the draconic faith "Relgimism" and the Norse faiths of the ancient Vikings; many of whom fled to Sekeolath to avoid having to convert!

EDIT: You can ignore the bulk of the history below...it was written before wrote up the story of Danthe Jarnhud;  Danthe Jarnhud: The Queen Of The North, Act One
"You must conquer the world before you may conquer me."
- Haraldic words of House Dante
Act One: Defiance
*   *   *

The Jarnhud Kingdom is a harsh mistress. Our summers are cold, our winters white. It is a tough place for tough dragons. To our west, we had the Kingdom of Burben, ruled by House Abelburben. Between them, House Horn of Hornholm, and us, House Jarnhud, we rule the draconic North of Scandinavia. It's not perfect, but it's home.
My name is Danthe. I am old, and I am tired, but I have lived a long and fulfilled life. Though ice flows in my blood, I shan't see another summer. My children will be my legacy, and when I am gone, they will tell my story...

*   *   *

I was born in the Barony of Jarnhud, the fourth child of House Jarnhud, the youngest daughter of Jarnelle Jarnhud, my mother, and Thorstein Dofri, my father. I can remember my childhood years. Before my father tried to mar...read that instead.

I haven't managed to figure out a timeline for it all just yet, so I'll sum up what we have so far; prior to the foundation of the Kingdom of Sekeolath, Ice Dragons in the Sapmi Regions of Scandinavia lived in tiny tribal groups that occasionally fought each other for dominance over areas of land. In time, three dragon clans began to unite the land under their rule; the Horns, who lived on an island in the west (Hornholm), the Jarnhuds, who lived on the eastern peninsula, and the Burbens, who lived around a lake (Lake Burben) in between the two. Eventually, the Burbens and the Horns began encroaching on each other's land, and after some fighting, the clan leaders decided to settle things with a duel. Legend has it that the night before the duel, the Goddess Ro'Silios - the chief God in the Relgimist pantheon - appeared to Abela Burben; the Burben Clan leader, and gifted her with an enchanted set of wing guards. It's debated to this day who exactly this mysterious dragon was, but the next day, Abela used the armour to defeat her opponent in single combat - since that date, the armour has been worn by the reigning Queens of Sekeolath. Her clan took the new name "Abelburben", and with the Horns humbled, the Abelburbens began a campaign to unite the north into the new "Kingdom of Sekeolath" (meaning "Shade"; although the exact origins of the name remain unknown), and eventually declared war on the neighbouring Jarnhuds (who were supposedly a particularly cruel family, although it's thought this may have been Abelburben propaganda). After a vicious war, the Jarnhuds were eradicated, and Sekeolath was united under a single ruler. As time went on, this tiny state would expand; first by an Abelburben dragon exploring the north and discovering an island complex to the north (Svalbard) which they dubbed "Wergul" (meaning Cold Place, IIRC); in time, this became the personal fief of the heir apparent to the Sekeolasian throne; the idea being that the next Queen would prove her right to rule by being able to survive in such a harsh place. Following this, Sekeolath began looking south, and slowly managed to gain control over human-inhabited realms, either through conquest, or through accepting oaths of fealty from Vikings who were unwilling to convert to Christianity.

So this is what Sekeolath would look like in the modern age...well, sort of. Korwin was the Capital under the Abelburbens, but after the coup that brought Nightshade to power, the Capital was relocated to Concurrent City. The flag was also changed as well...the blue became black, and the yellow became red. However, the ousted Abelburbens were able to flee to Wergul, and so they continue to rule from there under Queen Lojala I, challenging the rule of Nightshade. Given that Avalar and Sekeolath are at war, and Wergul has thrown their lot in with Avalar, it might not be too long before this map is accurate once more...

Why no, I most definitely didn't put that large flag in the corner just to cover a border I didn't feel like drawing...

Thank you for leading me here! Even know the history on this is kinda... flawed I loved reading it any way!

And I don't know about the flag part. But it was worth reading!

Now please have a good day or night to you sir.

Not a problem! And yeah, that history is horribly outdated; that was the original concept that me and toyed with before developing Danthe's character, and subsequently making the Jarnhuds good guys. Be sure to check out my gallery for more stuff like this linked to Ddraig's stories! For example;

Hmm...did I ever send Closure your way?  Gift Art - Ddraigtanto: ClosureAUTHOR NOTE: The following story takes place several years after the events of "Unus Ad Alterum", by which point in time Ddraig and Alexander (Lord Greywater) have had a son; Elwynn. It should be envisioned as taking place in the middle of another story; one in which Malefor has made another attempt at world domination, and on a much larger scale than the last time, but has just been defeated by a large force of dragons in a lengthy battle. Schakri was present at this battle, and scuffled with Ddraig before being defeated along with Malefor. As a consequence of Malefor's defeat, Nightshade has been freed from his influence, and she has been brought to Avalaria Palace - Ddraig and Alexander's royal residence - to recover alongside the Avalarian Royal Family. When she retires to another chamber with Cynder and Spyro, Ddraig and Alexander return to their own rooms in an attempt to calm down after the stress of the day.
From her nest, Ddraig grumbled. It was late; moonlight streamed

Yep, we really need to update that bit about the Jarnhuds: I'm pretty sure one of the living relatives of the Jarnhud Estate could take you to court for libel there.

Heheh, it's pretty funny just how much it's changed. I can picture Marcus looking at it and going "Who the hell wrote this? This isn't accurate in the slightest!" and Danthe herself reading it and going "WHAT???". Heh, that'd make for a good OOC or RP moment.

Indeed. It's a good thing this is the Internet, and poor Dany doesn't even know what a computer is. Though that does beg the question: If Marcus had stored a piece of data, and it later came about that the piece of data was totally wrong, discredited and deliberately misleading, would he still keep it? It's be like archives for printed newspapers or published media: Would he try to go for a complete collection, or an accurate collection?

Heh, just stumbled across this note again, and got a mental image of Danthe just trying to EAT the computer because she doesn't know what it is, so she's chewing on it grumpily while Marcus or something behind her is going "Uhhh..."

Hah, and on that note, had an idea for a silly little scene set in the far FAR future...basically, it'd be Ddraig and Alexander as ghosts meeting Ignitus, and him telling them that because of their deeds in life, they will be allowed to train to be High Spirits...on the condition that Ddraig swears to behave and not abuse her power. Ddraig will splutter and protest at this, and accuse Ignitus of being mean, and Ignitus will explain he means that Ddraig can't use her powers to appear to her family whenever she likes (Legion did it, but Ignitus took blame for that because he gave Legion the power straight away rather than teaching him how to use it), and it also means that she can't manifest as a angry flaming spirit dragon if one of her descendants suddenly becomes right-wing somehow...and I can picture Ddraig blushing and grumbling, because she would have done exactly that...

Heh, indeed. That or she'd end up shouting at it to do all the magical computer stuff we kinda take for granted.

Heh, it'd be awkward, but it'd have to be done.

Hee hee, perhaps it'd be a picture of Finn on the screen, and so she'd be smashing the computer while screaming "Release my mate!", and behind her, Finn's watching with confusion...

Heh, indeed! It'll be funny to have little scenes like this...Ddraig will learn the drawback to having a big family; they know all her quirks and can tease her for it!

Heh, it makes me think of that great meme you did with Ddraig and Danthe answering questions together...specifically, those cute questions where they bring up their mates with happiness (heh, I think there's one where they both answer the same thing to one question and promptly glare at one another)!

Ddraigtanto In reply to AMCAlmaron [2016-04-12 14:03:52 +0000 UTC]

Heh. Meanwhile, I can't help but see a friendly rival emerge between the two: Such as with Dany's managing to win a war entirely while pregnant, while Ddraig couldn't make the same feat; in response, Ddraig calmly walks Danthe through a museum of modern warfare, pointing out the jets, the tanks, and the fully automatic, Armour-peircing assault rifles. After that, Danthe begrudgingly agrees to call it a tie.

AMCAlmaron In reply to Ddraigtanto [2016-04-12 19:08:26 +0000 UTC]

Heh, perhaps that could be a crackfic of some sorts; Ddraig and Danthe find themselves in the same room, and after some gushing by Ddraig, they find themselves facing off against one another in a contest of feats? Or...perhaps Ddraig, Danthe and Selena are all vying with one another or something? Hmm, that all sounds a bit aggressive, really...but something like the meme!

Maybe something more fun...them fighting each other when Ddraig and Selena would have no reason to do that to one another or their idols wouldn't make sense. Ddraig and Selena being competitive with one another could make sense, but still...

It's just bragging:

- I'VE fought the mightier battle, I wrestled with my arch-nemesis in the middle of a harsh winter, while heavily pregnant!

-Well, I did all that too! Except you never had to worry about guns, or tanks or people flying over and bombing you in the night!

-Oh I have, have never you HEARD of Jotun the Perisher?!

- Have YOU ever heard of Manfred von Richthofen?!

- Ha! A German?! I didn't think we'd be arguing about the Holy Roman Empire?!

- Heh, you have no idea, friend...

Fun! Awkward, but they'll make up in the end.

Hee hee, this could be fun...perhaps they're having a contest while drinking, so it gets progressively sillier? Wait...hang on, I seem to recall reading a Horrible Histories book about some culture that would have boasting contests amongst people, so perhaps Ddraig and Danthe are invoking that intentionally?

Ah...well, in that case, perhaps Ddraig initiates it? Celtic-Draconic culture is supposed to be the oldest fanciest form of Draconic from Wales...

I wonder how we'd do this one...Crackfic? Meme? Hmm...what we should do is find one of those really long memes that lists off lots of one word things to respond to, and paint the scene as if Ddraig and Danthe are both competing to see who has the best answer to each?

Hehe... I think that could actually make a good D1000... That or the wedding, which I've ALSO been doing a tiny bit for. TLoS: oSaS 22: We Stand Strong...*   *   *

"I can't do this..." Alexander paced up and down the temple corridor, occasionally brushing the sleeves of his tuxedo jacket to dust away all the dust which wasn't even there to begin with. "I can't. It's not enough."
He'd been like this for a few minutes now, Cyril had gone to meet him, having found the Dutch monarch growing increasingly nervous and worried about proceedings: Ddraigtanto had arranged a quick wedding at the Dragon Temple for her and Alex, with the promise that they could have a more formal ceremony after the war. Alexander had not taken it well. "She's a god damn empress, Cyril! And I'm the King of the Netherlands, and we might as well be taking her marrying her at a tiny little registrar's office. She deserves far better than this!"
Cyril frowned, clearly taking some exception to having the temple compared as such. "...She's not marrying the King of the Netherlands, Alexander. She's marrying you. Because she loves you, and This is going to get finished eventually, I swear to god.

Heh, I hope this map's not too disconcerting then! I was basing Sekeolath's borders of those of the Sapmi region, but then it ended up getting enlarged slightly over time either to make borders neater, or so the history would make sense (couldn't call the southmost state Trondheim if it didn't have Trondelag in it, for instance).

This isn't the only dragon state that exists in my friend's fic; there's also one that covers most of East France, and another one that stretches across Hungary and the Banat Region (North Serbia and SW Romania)! There's only a map for the former state at the moment, but come to think of it, I should really do one for the other...
