no animation tool here. Pure posing. I use DAZ 3D for posing and rendering and Blender for modeling simple props. I have extensive background in theater and Computer programming. Plus, I'm a gamer chick for the last 24 years. My favorite RPG is Rifts and Ninja and Super Spies. Other than that, I have one hell of an imagination.

Well, I was referring to Blender but I have not used/tried DAZ 3D, and thats quite cool to be such things, I'm working on becoming a Digital artist, and one of the things I'm also gunning for is to be an animator, so I thought that was cool

Ok. to start of with animation. Look up Blender Guru Andrew Price. He has a few good tutorial on animation. Start off simple with animation. If you are in to SCI-FI. I would suggest an Outer Space Scene with one ship. Practice flying the ship in front of the camera and the another shot moving the camera and keeping the ship still. You are going to see a difference in the motion. Do this until you are really comfortable with Key frames and Camera movement. Then you can go on to other things. This is pretty basic entry level techniques. Blender also has a really good fire generator as well. Please keep me posted, I'm eager to see what you can do. I hope that this information helps ya.

Well, I have to refresh on the tutorials for Blender, But, I'm not exactly aiming for SCI-FI, I have had inspiration to do Furries, so I'd be interested in doing mainly Anthro's

Ah... I see. In that case... There are several do 2D animation freeware to help you with that. Gimp 2 is good... but there is better. Stand by, I will link some of the better 2D animation software / freeware to you. If you are interested in 3D animation... the blender is still your best bet.

Yeah, I heard it was the best freeware, thats why I downloaded it, I would had LOVED to try PS, atleast until I found out that none of them were free

Mmhmm. I use GIMP for my post work if needed. I'm still looking for the better 2D animation programs for you.. but nothing likes promising. ;(

Take your time. You are doing the right thing by making sure when you animate that everything is perfect.

Well thank you, I finished the lines today, so any further modifications to them will be decidedΒ  when I get around to the detail, so what did you think of my current animation...that is, if you saw

I did see, I left a comment under the picture. Now when you open the mouth of the wolf,Β  try opening it at the jaw line. A slight rotation there, will make the mouth open more natural. Good first try. 2D animation isn't easy, especially hand drawn. Even for the simplest motion, you are looking at 10 to 20 frames per second. You got great key frames... Now you just need the in between frames to smooth out that animation motion. This is still basics, so I'm not going to critique on quality, but understanding the fundamentals of key shots, frames and story is most important. Now the story is actually the motion you want to complete. So get a good idea what you want and go for it. again not bad for your fist try.

Umm, lol I only posted that because I did not wanna delete it, I was just toying around with the tools, My first REAL piece which is what I thought you commented on was my Werewolf Gif. there is where you can give a better critique, and it was all PNG frames, so it's not crappy quality, 22 frames, and my greatest piece ever

Yes, I did check out the werewolf. I do believe that Blender animations will serve ya better. Check it out and tell me what you think.
this is the video I did with Blender and the Fire Emitter. www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=5…

Honestly, I had to pose each each movement, but the animations drive was a help. so, this project took 30 days. The render part was only 6 hours on aΒ  Β crappy laptop that I use.Β  Β Β  Β

So, the better the laptop, the better the performance quality?

and wow, 30 days

AMDeLand-Baldwin In reply to OpponentYew2000 [2014-02-12 19:53:44 +0000 UTC]

yes... when creating animation in 3D the lower the polys are the fast the render and smoother the motion. As you saw in the intro, I moved the camera first and it was really choppy until I moved the room to rotate it I got a smoother result. SO in that instance its better to move the room than it is the camera. however with the dancing flame, I go the better result keeping the camera still and animating the flame motion. Really with 3D animation, knowing what works with the camera is going to be key. It does really help if you have a decent processor, render times are much shorter. Yeah.. I was relieved once that was completed. I have done a short since, mainly cause I don't have any really inspiration to make another short.

lol I most definitely have to remember that, and I always thought it was the animation itself was why it moved, wow

AMDeLand-Baldwin In reply to OpponentYew2000 [2014-02-12 21:54:24 +0000 UTC]

No.. The camera has a lot to do with it as well. In 2D art, mainly comics, when drawing a sector (Picture in a comic book box) There are the different types of angles, like bird's eye view and what not. That is a type of camera movement. In 3D, the motion of the camera and the angles are just as important. A good reference of camera motion and angle is the first scene in the house of 1000 corpses by Rob Zombie, when the Clown's store was being rob and you got the first people view of the fellow on the ground that's going to be killed. Straight on as a third person watching its another person being shot, not very exciting, however when its down in first person and it you looking down that gun, then it gets a whole new meaning. Same thing in animation. I know this seems a lot to digest, but these are some things to keep in mind before you start drawing. It will add a whole new punch to those pictures, frames, and animations.

I see that you found the humor in this picture. Even though the Dog pack Soldiers are intelligent, you can't breed out the fact that they ARE still dogs.
